As a wedding venue it is a nice hotel and food was very good. Room was clean, comfortable and had all facilities that we needed. There are lots of nice seating areas which would have been nice to sit in and enjoy a pre evening meal drink but a lot of these areas were being used by the wedding party which is fine but means the hotel guest are left with nowhere to sit with out feeling you are interfering with the wedding guests. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine to our room instead. I am sure if you stay at this hotel when there is not a wedding being held it would be great value for money and really enjoyable stay. Unfortunately we stayed the same night the hotel was catering for a wedding party which meant the restuarant chairs were replaced with hard plastic chairs which meant our evening meal was spoilt because the chairs were so uncomfortable. When we arrived for breakfast next morning the chairs had been replace with the more suitable leather padded chairs that I would have expected in a 4* hotel dinning room, which left us to assume that the chairs had be used by the wedding guest the night before - would n't you think they would have enough for both!!. Also as a small note of irritation a bottle of sparkling wine that we ordered for our room was delivered with normal wine glasses not flutes and they didn't even match.

Genuinely impressed by the standard of decor in all the shared areas & in the room, & the cleanliness, basicallky because I knew it was an old building so expected it to be a little run down (in a nice way). Staff were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble & they were as plaesant at 6am in the morning as they were mid morning or afternoon :) Very happy...will definately stay there again

I liked the warm reception we received when we arrived. We were greeted by very pleasant staff and offered a mince pie and mulled wine. I thought this was a lovely jesture sand really appreciated the christmas spirit it conveyed. It was very tastefully decorated and all our needs were supplied.I Would certainly recommend it to my friends. The only downside was that the radiator control in our room was broken and we could not regulate the heat. The fact that it was December and we had to sleep with the both top windows open will indicate how hot it was! I informed the receptionist and she said she would report it.

A lovely hotel Unfortunately our night was ruined by loud music coming from a tent right outside our room window. Pounding bass and a very noisy dj right up untill 1:00am This was a christmas party that the hotel was hosting This would have been accetible had we been warned upon booking the room for witch I paid £130 for. All in all I was disapointed and will not be returning as a result.

Staff were very friendly, and we were greeted at reception with mulled wine & mince pies, which was a nice touch! The room was on the top floor and was small, but well laid out and had a huge bed, which is always a bonus! Another good test was the shower, which was great - can't stand showers that just trickle out ! We dined in the restaurant on the evening, it was very quiet, with Xmas music piped in - a bit too much to be honest! The food was very good, and the 3 course menu at £18.95 was good value. The restaurant staff were slow to get going, but once they were in the swing of the service, were attentive and friendly. All in all a very nice hotel, in a beautiful setting.

Good value with the hb option. Food was really good. The room was decorated very nicely and the bed was very comfortable. I thought the location was great as I didn't have to drive into the city centre and have the hassle of parking. I imagine access to the city centre is easy via public transport although we were continuing our journey.

Visited for one night for a friends wedding. The reception was perfect and the staff helpful and friendly. A lovely country hotel very close to the city of Leeds. Pretty grounds. A small point the shower door difficult and the hot water on the shower not clearly marked

I like the friendliness of the staff, and the personal touches. And Boo Boo My room this time was a bit small and no jacuzzi bath, which I was looking forward To, as I had lovely rooms before. It was fine, but I was just a little disappointed. It was supposed to be an executive double room, but the bed would have been too small for 2 to share, It didn't really seem executive, but it was ok.

Friendly and helpful staff, a cosy and relaxing atmostphere. The room was very nice however the Jaccuzzi bath was not working and the bathroom was very cold as the radiator was also not working. The heaters in the bedroom area were luke warm. I reported this to reception and a mobile heater was provided straightaway.

The room was clean and tidy. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent. Nobody was at Reception to greet me and although I rang the counter bell twice, no member of staff came for ages. Although the African Grey Parrot in the adjacent foyer area, was rather entertaining! Many of the staff need better customer service training and I felt let down by their lack of hospitality. Given the choice, I wouldn't stay at the Woodlands again, but its location was central to my Leeds visit the following morning. Shame really!

I stayed at the hotel for a family function. The function was shambolic (including organisation, waiting staff, quality of food). There was an overpowering smell of cleaning fluid on arrival at reception.

Food and service was great. It was dark on approach and not obvious where the reception was no clear signage. The gorund look like they were nice but all the windows from the corridor were etched so you couldn't see into the grounds at all.

It was very warm and welcoming, room spacious and clean Unfortuantley it was a bit nosey as there was a wedding on and music was quite loud and we had gone for a romantic break, also the jacuzzi in our room didn't work as we paid extra for deluxe room we reported this and weren't offered a refund on the difference, although I have to say we didn't let either issue spoil our stay, and the last think was we have breakfast in our room and it wasn'y exactly hot.

Arrived at hotel at 4.30 to see Wedding guests circulating garden and bar areas. Was advised last dinner time was 7.30, selected an earlier one and on getting to Dinning room was advised that the wedding breakfast was taking priority over standard guest dinners. However, all other aspects of the visit was very good.
