This 5-star Gothic country house is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by 10-acre gardens and bluebell woodland, it has luxurious bedrooms and a traditional woodland hut. The impressive Gothic and Cream Suites have stunning bathrooms, and both have satellite LCD TVs. The woodland ‘Yurt’ hut has basic self-catering facilities and a glass dome to see up to the stars. There is a lounge for guests to enjoy, with a 9-foot movie screen and full-size air hockey table. A PlayStation, a Wii, and a DVD player are all set up to play through the huge screen. Woodside has won a Gold Award and Breakfast Award from EnjoyEngland.com. It has both varied dining menus and seasonal menus, served in a restaurant overlooking the beautiful garden. For an additional fee, guests can enjoy a health suite with an infrared sauna and a Jacuzzi, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. The historic seaside town of Hastings is just 8 miles away. Rye is a 20 minute drive away, and Battle is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Country house: 5 rooms

Amanda and Darron were wonderful hosts. The suite was beautiful and the food was fantastic. We would definitely come back again if we were holidaying in this area.

Bijzonder gastvrij en vriendelijk gezin, onder de bezielende leiding van topgastvrouw Amanda, dat alles in het werk stelt om de gasten een onvergetelijke vakantie te bezorgen. Dit met respect voor je privacy. Heerlijke high tea met onovertroffen scones, clotted cream (the real thing!) en home made jam. Uitgebreide ontbijtkeuze, ter plaatse bereid met verse producten (aanrader: smoothies). Klasse! Veel oog voor detail, aan alles is gedacht. Behulpzaamheid bij het geven van bezienswaardigheden-tips. Daron, namens Liam, nogmaals bedankt voor het opblazen van het springkussen-huisje. Geen moeite is teveel, dit is dienstbaarheid 'pur sang'! P.S. Wij verbleven in een tipi (glamping), vooraf kregen wij van Amanda een uitgebreide briefing. Er zijn ook mogelijkheden in de vaste accommodatie voor niet-kampeerliefhebbers. Helemaal niets!

The warm welcome we received from Amanda and her family was second to none, as was the service we received during our weekend at Woodside. This beautiful house has every comfort we could have wished for and I would not hesitate to recommend it, or to visit again if the opportunity arises. Not the cheapest weekend of my life but it is certainly true in this case that you get what you pay for - and definitely worth choosing to spend a little more. Thank you!

Everything from location to friendly owners who go the extra mile for you; very clean' food you are spoilt for choice' Daron even took and collected us from the pub. Lots of attention to detail and would strongly recommend and im a fussy pants when I stay somewhere. julie and peter hayward

Very friendly and helpful people - a true family business. The over-bath shower in our bathroom. Too steep to get in and out of without help and too low to stand under comfortably.

Both my partner and I enjoyed our stay here, Amanda and Daron were perfect hosts nothing was to much trouble. We plan to return in the not to distant future and stay in the yurt that is also onsite. The room was fantastic, the water bed was not our cup of tea though this was the first time we had both slept on one so may take a bit of getting use to. Breakfast was great very filling and we made use of the Hot Tub and Sauna as well very relaxing. Special mention to The White Hart pub that Amanda booked for us a lovely Sunday Lunch absolutely delicious. As I said the only issue was the water bed but this was down to the fact that though it was very comfortable it does take a bit of getting use to

Very off the wall experience... but totally enjoyable. Great hosts and wonderful breakfast!! The fridge was very noisy!!! We had to unplug it overnight... but better to have one than not!!!!

Very impressive waterbed in our Gothic Suite, and the night is a special occasion for my boyfriend's 30th, and we were visiting the Bodiam Castle. The night we stayed in, we both had a great time in this lovely family run b&b, the food is amazing, both j and a are very sweet and a and d are the best host you can have in town. The suite is huge, with very impressive bath and shower unit to a lux standard, plus there're sheep in the back of the house, made it so relaxing and very farm like. Highly recommended!

outstanding service from a very friendly family; very good breakfast; lovely suite (the Gothic room); not a big fan of waterbeds after this experience: produced much hilarity but somewhat disturbed sleep;
