Complimentary breakfast was nice, but nothing special. Fruit juices tasted sweetened from concentrate, rather than fresh. The only crepe going was a factory-made, plastic-wrapped pastry (and I use the term very loosely, here) that tasted nothing like crepe or the chocolate spread it was meant to have... tasted artificial more than chocolatey.
Coffee, while included with the breakfast, was on the weak side.
Breakfast tables left dirty and unnoticed by staff walking in the room, which was a tad charmless, despite nice country home views.
Toilet in the en suite was soiled with fecal matter when we entered the room for the first time-- yuk!
Toothpaste and robes not included; disappointing for a hotel (and for hotel prices). Suggestion, in addition to these, maybe some bubble bath would be a nice touch? :)
Sausage and mash was bland, pate and oatcakes seemed very much store-bought (though tasty for what they were), and food was generally substandard for a hotel, aside from aforementioned fish & chips.
Bar and reception service very slow, perhaps due to under-staffing?
We're with 3G and got absolutely no mobile signal the entire time we were in Doune, including at the hotel. Hugely inconvenient.
TV in the room was a flatscreen, but tiny. Made it really hard to read the TV guide on the screen from our position on the bed.
Convenient location *just* outside of tiny Doune town centre, providing very quick access to shops, church, and local attractions while benefiting from being in a quieter area than in the town proper.
Best fish and chips I've ever had!
Fair prices on food and drink, with humongous portion sizes!
Multiple-channeled TV and Wi-fi included.
Friendly & helpful staff.
Super comfortable bed and pillows!
Room temperature was great.
