The people who ran the Woodside Villa were really nice, the young girl there was so helpful and friendly. The hotel was in the scheme of Boudoir, it was very victorian done very tastefully. The rooms which we saw were done out really nice, nice bedding in the room we had and clean. Quite enjoyed the stay and we were very comfortable. My only gripe was having to go across the landing for our bathroom, if we were to go again we'd have to have a proper en suite, when we read about the hotel it was a bit misleading about the bathroom, it sounded like it was just the loo that wasn't en suite but the shower was in there too, got to say the bathroom was lovely, fantastic shower! Woodside was just a little too far out of Town for us, if you wanted to go out in the evening for a drink after your meal, I got a bit fed up of walking up and down that hill.

A great stay at a great price for three nights. Used Whitby as a base to visit Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes, etc. and had a great time in a very beautiful area. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and the decor of the hotel was of a good standard. The room was nice and spacious too. If I were to criticise, I would suggest the hotel invest in a new sign outside - it looks cheap and gives an impression that belies the reality of the accommodation.

We liked the little bench on the porch outside, it would have been a nice place to sit if the weather had not been so bad. It was great that there was no set time we had to arrive back to the B&B. The man who served breakfast was very chatty and friendly. The dinning room was very nicely decorated and furnished. The en-suite was really pretty with rainbow tiles around the walls, we stayed in the Summer Palace room. The bed was comfy. If there had been other rooms available we would have chosen a different room to stay in as the other rooms looked more luxurious than the Summer Palace room. The room was very cold even though we stayed in early July, we did have an electric heater but this just took the chill off really. The room was on the ground floor which meant we could hear all the comings and goings and also both windows looked onto the street which didn't offer much privacy. The B&B was a ten minute walk up hill from the town centre, and quite tiring after a day walking round the town. There were no parking facilities on site. We could not have take away in our room which as a young couple was a disadvantage as we had to sit on a wall in the street to eat it.

The decor was amazing and well designed using vintage furniture and modern touches. The owner was friendly and attentive. The hotel does not have parking but you can get to within 150 yards around the back of the hotel. The television did not work at all well (really poor picture and only a couple of channels).

A friendly family run B+B, just like staying with family friends. We stayed in the Rococo room, which was huge. Breakfast was served between 9-9.30am which suited us fine, I guess it could have been changed to suit us if asked. Breakfast is served around one large table that whould fit every guest around in one sitting. The house is full of fine furniture not at all like most hotels that seems to have the same sort of look. It's clean and comfortable, it won't be for some types of customer if you're looking for the corporate/business chain type hotel. Wi-Fi was free, a big plus for me though. We'd recommend only to family or friends who are fit enough to walk up and down hills, steps and stairs!! Location, it is up a steep hill from the town, so don't expect a gentle stroll or it to be just a few mins from the harbour. Parking, very limited onsite parking. 1 or 2 guests cars at max. Neither of which can be changed!!!

Really a boutique hotel- it is a Victorian house decorated to a very high standard with style. I would certainly consider staying here for a weekend away. Their heating broke down, so we had to move elsewhere. Credit card facilities were not available - their machine was broken. They suggested breakfast at 9am- far too late for business travellers.

Staff were very friendly and provided information sheet telling you where was a good place to eat and places to visit locally of interest Hotel is located on a steep hill. If someone who has mobility problems when they would have difficulty getting to the location. The shower did not work on the first floor, so had to go up to second floor to use the shower. Room was cold, and heating was only on for around 3 hours.

Woodside Villa provided spacious rooms within a Victorian house with period furnishings. The proprietor Sherrie felt like a friend the moment you walked through the door and nothing was too much trouble. It was within 10 minutes walk of the harbour and shops and parking was not a problem. We will go there again when we next visit to Whitby

We will definately return to Woodside Villa on a regular basis. I dont honestly think you will find a better guest house in Whitby. The rooms were all decorated in a different theme. Warm friendly staff, cleanliness second to none.

I thoughti the Woodside Villa was a nice guest house to spend a weekend away. It was good value for money and the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was lovely. It was too far out of town and handy if you did want to travel.
