No wifi, though was meant to be included in price. Room was quite basic but comfortable
Foreign staff hard to understand, fold out sofa bed very thin and uncomaftable, smelly outside toilets,no choice for healthy food, very small TV,for a family orientated hotel nothing to do for kids after 6....kids clubs etc, apart from that ok
No restaurant at hotel
flexible and helpful staff who went beyond the call of duty to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. very comfortable room with sofa and armchair very clean
not having the option to eat in the hotel bar
Didn't like having to go to a different building across the road for breakfast and evening meal.it seem to be very child friendly, more suited to younger couples..
Location was good, village was beautiful.
Reception and bar was lacking some charm and spirit....pretty soulless....
Lovely clean room, good facilities, comfortable, free parking, free wi-fi, good food, lots of breakfast and excellent front desk staff, good value.
the caves were fantastic the staff in the wookey hole adventure were lovely and plessant
not English staff could have a bit more manners, could do with some new mattreses
Can't fault the location the free parking & Wifi.
Unfortunately the room we stayed in room 25 was disgusting. Someone previously had been sick in the room as the smell was so overpowering we had to move the beds. No politeness from any of the staff at all and very unwelcoming, we not recommend this hotel.
Good location as the caves are on the doorstep. Comfy bed. Friendly team at breakfast.
Parents letting their children run amok around the hotel, surprisingly especially late at night when they should have been asleep!. Night porter would be a good idea. Breakfast quite exspensive which is an extra price on top of the accomodation.
Good value breakfast
Non secure open windows overnight on GF.
Dining at Captain Jacks
basically everything cant comment on food as we did not eat there but can't fault anything else would not hesitate to stay there again thank you all
We stayed for a couple of nights. Great place for young families. Our children are 4 yr & 18mth. They had a great time. Staff are very friendly. Hotel was very comfortable & clean. Good choice of food in the restaurant.
Loved breakfast with the Wookey Witch. Our 4 yr old daughter loved her.
Hotel was clean and staff were very pleasant and informative.
Breakfast very expensive
Location. Friendly staff. Ideal for using the Wookey Hole complex facilities
The breakfast was served in the site restaurant which was at least 200 metres from the hotel. We were fortunate with the weather but this could have been a damp journey between buildings.
The attractions. Amazing packed day. The first witch she was amazing. And captain Jack! The location. The cinema!
The Welcome. It was cold, uninformative. Having to makeup the kids bed ourselves. The bed was rock hard pillows paper thin :( the food was everso expensive. The witch on the second day was rubbish didn't interact sat drinking tea. The kids were disappointed :(
going down to the bottom dinning room for meals. grumpy staff. paying for panning for gold as a resident. poor breakfast [children being refused egg on toast had to have full cooked ] breakfast too expensive. tables not layed with cuttlery napkins salt & pepper. unhappy staff. having breakfast there was like having it in a truck stop.the barmaid when asked did not know where the cinema was [she was english] there were several groups / familys not very happy as we wern;t it was our four;th visit to wookey hole and sadly probebbly our last. my wife and I are foster carers and go to places like wookey hole all year round
The central location is superb. Also, as a base, it makes visiting other West Country areas extremely easy and convenient, (Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge etc) with the knowledge that one has a comfortable and well equipped hotel to relax in after ones journey. The facilities on site were good to excellent, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, who were eager to please and seemed very genuine. The rooms were well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The Caves were spectacular, as was the 4D film show, with again excellent staffing.
Personally I found the menu in Captain Jacks limited, although the food was well presented, wholesome and showed very good portion size. I do think one can have a little too much of the 'sideshow' feeling regarding 'amusements', they can, at times veer towards the tired and sometimes tacky in there presentation and value. Does everything need to be so expensive? Even a turn of the century penny arcade needn't be prohibitive in its pricing. I also found the way in which every opportunity was used to encourage spending slightly off-putting, although of course realising that it is a BUSINESS. Overall though, these are minor criticisms, and are purely personal, and would not put me off returning.
good rooms parking wi fi bar good staff good food
