Clean, very spacious accommodation. New owners had taken over the day before so everything was up in the air. But they did seemed to adapt very well. They couldnt do enough for us. Very friendly. We would definitely stay again.
The young man running the Inn ON HIS OWN still provided an excellent service. He cooked the lovely breakfasts as well as running the bar etc. and I think he did a marvellous job! The Brewery should really have provided him with far more support.
The shower in my (disabled) room should have had wall bars and/or shower stool. As a lone traveller I was unable to shower while I was there as I don't have enough stability to stand in a shower without help.
No food as was advised with bar food
The location was lovely, it was just such a pity the lad was on his own, trying to do everything. The room size was great, plenty of it, could have done with another chair. The breakfast was good, just the right amount, pity it was all a bit last minute.
The room was ok, just felt a little inadequate really. The beds were decidedly ropey with no mattress protector and you only got one pillow. Every time you used the water from the bathroom, the fan started up and you could hear it from all the other rooms too. The bathroom, for its size could have been made so much nicer. You would have to be Houdini to be sat on the toilet and be able to reach the toilet roll. The floor felt sticky and then the shower screen which clearly needs replacing, was held together with horrible pink sticky adhesive. To finish our stay, we had an early morning alarm check at 7.40am to presumably make sure we all woke up.
Freezing cold. No lights on. No chef.Had to move on.
Friendly staff Very comfortable bed Nice and quiet Slept very well
No chef was on Had to drive to find somewhere to eat TV was tiny
Room was nice
Friendly staff, good breakfast.
In process of changing ownership, no evening catering.Though to be fair had been forwarned by email about this.
Terrible noise outside room. Rooms unclean. Only one member of staff about but nobody in the morning. No food on as chief on holiday!. Beds uncomfortable. Walls very thin could hear the neighbour snoring all night.
Room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed.
Bath/shower needs a good shot of bleach to get rid of black grime. No seat in bedroom. Arrived to the news that the chef had left on "holiday" with no replacement on duty, therefore no evening meal available<(and no bar snacks of any kind!), but there would be someone to cook breakfast BUT when we eventually managed to find a way into the dining area at breakfast time, there was no chef and no breakfast, so we left and found food elsewhere. We did however receive an apology phone call later in the day and a £10 reduction in our bill.
Location, staff, breakfast.
In the twin room, the beds were rather too firm for our taste.
Helpful staff and comfortable room together with delicious breakfast.
When we arrived to the hotel late in the evening, we were told there was no chef, so we had to order a take away.
The dedication of the manager (Rob?) who cooked breakfast, cleared weeds, served in the bar and many other jobs but remained cheerful and positive.
Woolpack for sale, no chef, no evening meals, no room service, no loo paper and poor TV reception.
The Hotel is in a lovely spot away from the hustle an bustle of Dewsbury and has lovely views around it.
No evening meal
There was no dinner and no snacks in the bar. To get food is a trip to another pub up the road. May as well have stayed elsewhere in the first place. Apparently pub management is changing and the chef has left
Friendliness of staff who was ONLY 1 person. Change of hands so chef had walked out
Told no evening meals which was very disappointing. Had to travel 5 miles to eat somewhere else. No vegetarian breakfast. Bathroom strange with no shelving, very empty room. No staff apart from 1 man who was doing everything the best he could. Was surprised we got charged full price when service was poor due to pub changing hands.
The room was spacious and the bedding clean.
The room was shabby and the paintwork needed touching up. The inn was advertised as serving evening meals but we were e mailed 2 days before to say meals were not available.
Personally not a thing. Ideal for business people or those wanting somewhere cheap for one night.
No chef = No meals Water pump and cellar compressor noise did not allow much sleep. Door locks missing or hard to operate. No stair hand rail. Run by a one man band who blames Green King for all the pubs faults.
The person serving us was friendly.the room was nice.
They need more staff.i feel sorry for the person coz he is alone doing all the work.especially it was so busy that day.
The young man in charge was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, breakfast lovely very well cooked. Room very comfortable and duel aspect..
Nice big room, very friendly guy running the place that put the heating on for us in August! Pub looked nice although we only had breakfast in it. English breakfast good
Unfortunately we stayed during a time when the landlord was changing so it had a feeling of being end of season with limited staff. No chef so couldn't have a meal in the evening, we went to a pub down the road, just unfortunate timing, think they could have put a notice on the website about this - we did book that very afternoon so perhaps we would have had a call to tell us had we booked earlier. If you didn't want a cooked breakfast the alternative cereal was sparse, no fruit/yoghurt but then we were happy with the cooked option and it was very nice. I'm sure it will be better again when up to full strength on staff. Although rural, the front rooms are right on the road so take your earplugs if you are a light sleeper, I did and it wasn't a problem.
Fantastic breakfast and lovely staff
Shame that one of the curtain poles was in need of fixing as was the hand rail.
THE HOLE ATMOSPHERE WAS VERY RELAXED AND FRIENDLY DUE TO A WARM WELCOME FROM THE STAFF LOVELY BUILDING SET IN A BEAUTIFUL PART OF YORKSHIRE WISH I COULD HAVE STAYED LONGER TO SOAK UP THE UNBEATABLE YORKSHIRE HOSPITALITY THANK YOU
Good sized clean and comfortable room, excellent staff. The food in the pub was good, though we didn't have a full English then breakfast was pretty good as well. Staff were very friendly and attentive
No hair dryer in room
