This unique privately owned boutique hotel is set in 3 acres of grassy parkland, just 8 miles south of Bath.

This former rectory’s impressive original structure dates back to the early 19th century. Inside, the quirky décor in the bar, the conservatory and the rooms would appeal to those looking for something out of the ordinary. Each room is individually designed and decorated, with Far Eastern overtones reflecting the oriental menu available in the hotel’s on-site bistro.

There are no dress codes and guests are given the opportunity to mix with others if they so desire.

Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 2.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Food & beverage

The ever-changing menu features a selection of dishes freshly prepared daily by the hotel's resident chef, Kai Wang, from Shenzhen, China. The bistro’s informal ambience is the ideal background for the tapas-style dim sum and aromatic Malay curries which would appeal to all those who appreciate the finer side of oriental food.

Important information

Please call the hotel directly if bookings include children as not all rooms are equipped to take extra beds.

Please note that for May, June and July 2008 substantial roadworks are being carried out on the A36 so the road is closed at Limply Stoke. During this period, access to the hotel from the north would be via Midford and Norton St Philip. This makes no difference to the time of journey as this is usually an alternative route anyway.

Rowena gave us a lovely recepion and up graded our room which was
beautiful, specious and well presented. Although the dinner menu was
very limited the chef is a very good dim sum cook!!

All the wooden floors made it quite noisy and the cleaner didn't make
any consideration to guest who were staying as she banged doors and
talked very loudly early in the mornings!!!

Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere.Food delicious. I recommend people to read the hotel description. This hotel is as described.

Excellent breakfast

The house used to be a glorious rectory. A Christian minister used to
live there. The current management have sadly, shown no regard for that
rich Christian heritage. The place has been completely "themed" with
Eastern furnishings and food. Buddhas abound. The rector must be turning
in his grave.

The breakfast was amazing and enjoyed!! The owners were very friendly and more than happy to share their knowledge of local restaurants in the area. A lovley weekend away

the service in the restaurant was very very slow, the next morning a cooked breakfast was not available until later as the chef had had a crisis at home. The rooms were tired and im not sure up to the description of a boutique hotel.

The building and surroundings were beautiful. Also great attention to detail has been paid to decor.

The only small grumble I had was that there were coffee/tea making facilities at the end of the landing but not in our room.

Evening meal wasn't the best and there was little choice, although I think the chef was at the Bath food show so it was a bit make shift.

The friendliness of the owner , the size of the room and views of garden , the decor in the hotel was quirky but comfortable. The hotel was in a beautiful setting and it was very relaxing .

The menu for the dinner was too restricting and if you didnt like oriental/spicy food there were no alternatives ,so had to find somewhere else to eat

The rooms clean, bed was very comfortable (room 3) and lovely large bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very friendly and hospitable hosts. lovely gardens

Boards are lovely but a bit creeky; walls a bit thin in terms of privacy

The staff couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was fantastic with Champagne.

People should be aware that dinner is very restricted. If you don't like Dim Sum you will need to travel. I understand this will be rectified very shortly though so worth a call.
