We had a lovely stay. The ladies on reception were very pleasant and helpful printing me off details of nearest church etc. We felt very comfortable and would recommend to friends and hope to come back.
It was so peaceful the fact you can open a window prefer that to air con. Had a lovely nights sleep and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
The plates were too hot in the dining room for breakfast and I think there should be a warning I found myself telling people just in case.
loved the building and setting. Food was wonderful we had an evening meal it was lovely and reasonably priced. Breakfast was great and served in a much nicer room.
No hot water in the morning for shower. Bed was two singles zipped together. building needed refurbishment would then be a five star. Glasses in restaurant were really cheap not nice to drink out of
good bar meal, very helpfull staff, excelent breakfast, and a very nice stroll through the gardens in the evening also wi fi easy to connect in room
a bit of noise from the bar area ( wedding reception ) and also noise from people going to next room late at night ( reception guests ? ) also bad reception on tv (channel 4 in particular as I wanted to watch a film )
the food was very good
The rooms and corridors etc are in great need of a major revamp.
Location is excellent with friendly helpful staff.
Fascinating house with surprising history (close links to the labour/trad union/co-operative movements) and beautiful grounds in a delightful little village
The service at breakfast was very friendly but slow....we'd just about given up waiting when our food arrived. Also, we were unlucky in that our delightful ground-floor room was close by the ladies loo and public rooms. There was a wedding reception and my husband had a sleepless night due to shouting and door-banging nearby. We hope to go back when it's quieter!
relaxed atmosphere, homely.
My stay again was great with an added welcome surprise upgrade on check in, will deffo be returning soon
Location, setting & historical/political connections. Artwork.
Noisy bed. Rubbish in garden (from an event, probably). Would like herbal beverages as well as tea/coffee.
Wall to wall weddings. Felt like an uninvited guest.
Fab stay in this lovely Hotel, breakfast was fantastic. Will deffo stay again
Friendly staff, nice gardens, good food. Breakfast was excellent.
Gardens are lovely and mature. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was very good.
In need of an update. The decor is a bit shabby.
The staff could not have done anymore. We had a fantastic day that was well organised and ran very smoothly.
Setting was fab, lovely village, beautiful grounds
Rooms quite basic, bat lacked atmosphere. But food was good
Great views friendly staff at a reasonable price
Small night porter bar, we cleared it all and the bar staff could of advised us of this prior as was advised by the bar staff we can have a few more drinks
Gardens location and room comfortable
Bar was awful and completely out of keeping for such a lovely building
staff food remote location history of hall
bed had a 'slope'-they need update-so do the pillows
Overrated Accommodation wise, totally Overpriced. Stayed on Friday night for a friend’s wedding and would much sooner have paid £55 for a Holiday Inn Express or Premier Inn rather than £ 103 here. This is not twice as good as anything around the £55 mark, but they have captive custom linked to the events/ weddings and they capitalise on it. The room was small, bare and basic and the communal toilets were shocking with mouldy ceilings. If I had another event here I’d be looking at different accommodation and a taxi
Fabulous location - great shame the noise problem spoiled the experience.
Wedding party directly below my room so very little sleep. Customers should be made aware of the possibility of this happening.
Close to where I needed to be.
Can't fault anything.
The location grounds and setting are stunning. The food is good and the rooms clean.
The staff are generally friendly but are not as welcoming or a friendly as or locations. This could be cultural but give the impression they are working to a job description! The hall needs some maintenance and loving care. A paper border was coming off in our room and needed 5 mins to sort out. Bar is in need of a major overhaul. Dark dingy and shabby!
The gardens are lovely and make the stay lovely
Think the hotel could do with refurbishment shabby for its rating
The building, views, gardens, privacy, communal lounge and the history. This was a surprise stay for my mothers birthday.
