Excellent welcoming staff and incredible grounds/ building, very relaxing
Would have liked a more modern room for the money we paid
The building inside & out, stunning decor, huge range of fantastic facilities, open fires, superb views, the "old world charm" of the place & it's setting. Food was OK but breakfast bacon was inedible
The staff did what was required but it always took too much time. The total lack of soundproofing in the bedrooms was a huge disappointment. We heard EVERY sound that was made in the toilet of the adjoining room.
The venue was excellent and in a beautiful setting, the staff were very friendly and efficient. We would have liked more time to have taken advantage of the facilities, maybe next time.
Although the breakfast choices were excellent the 'hot' food was not very warm and went cold very quickly.
Beautiful setting & grounds. Very friendly staff.
Don't stay there when there are big parties going on. We had to go out for dinner because they were hosting 3 Christmas parties & they couldn't cater for us. Bathroom was freezing cold. Small rooms but nicely decorated.
Really gorgeous building, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Lovely pool and fitness centre, a real joy.
double bed very small with "roll together matress"
Lovely building and surroundings and the staff were ok.
Bedroom in need of some serious updating, small television, stained trouser press, bathroom average, nothing in mini bar at all. Shower very old with limescale. Breakfast was inadequate for the price.
The grounds & look of hotel fantastic.
what didn't we like? The room was small and could do with updating. t states on the website it has been refurbished BUT our room had obviously been left out. Bad TV (so out of date and not many channels considering it stated it had certain TV channels & radio stations), ripped wallpaper, mattress dipped in the middle felt like partner & I just roller into each other. The staff in the bar and restaurant were not very attentive especially as it was not busy. In my opinion it did not represent very good value for money. Waiter smelling of cigarettes whilst serving our food, big put off. Not one tourist sign in the area to let you know direction to hotel, we even got lost using a Tom Tom. BIGGEST let down............. not one but two visitors in our room at night. Nothing done to help celebrate our anniversary i.e. bottle of champagne or chocolates in room etc etc. Stains on pillow. Would I go back there, don't think I would which is such a shame as the grounds are lovely. Spent £1,000,000 making it eco friendly, maybe they should have used some of that money to update the room we were in. We had a far better room / stay in a Premier Inn in Bournemouth Town Centre.......
I really liked the setting and history of the building. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi was very nice and clean. The grounds and surrounding area were excellent for walking and exploring.
The room was small and could do with updating. The staff in the bar and restaurant were not very attentive especially as it was not busy, if it was the waiting would become unbearable. In my opinion it did not represent very good value for money.
Friendly restaurant staff
The bed was rather too soft and a little too small for two people - sagging in the middle (the bed). Maybe the beds need replacing with something firmer and less tired.
The property and staff are superb
The hotel is in a very quiet setting and the traffic in and out of Dorking is busy when trying to work.
Not enough bar staff for amount of people at wedding
No breakfast included in the pricey room rate. Nonchalant staff. Slow booking in. Poor parking. Poor signage on main road. Broken fridge, suggests room was not properly checked throughout. Noisy children splashing in the pool so couldn't swim in peace. Impression that the hotel only wants to cater for large parties and conferences.
The food lesuire facilities the lovely staff and beautiful crowns made it a weekend to remember
We attended a wonderful wedding in an attractive setting. DJ was great (not sure if that was book by venue!)
Really difficult to book direct venue. Spent 22minutes on hold only to be told for wedding guest discount I would have to stay minimum of 3 nights! Booked easily via 3rd party booking.com. Made complaint about service prior to stay & was assured bottle of Prosecco would be left in room. It was not there & I needed proof of emails to receive it as no record of it on system. Eventually got a bottle of champagne but such an ordeal! Function rooms & exterior are lovely but rooms very dated. Service slow & inefficient. Only helpful member of staff was Krists - good on him to go out if his way to please guests. Did get an apology from manager & head office but such a pity it was late.
The hotel grounds are beautiful and the rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. The location; off the beaten track is peaceful and made for a pleasant stay.
Only one person on the bar at a wedding reception and he kept disappearing, in fact on a couple of occasions I had to go and find him to let him know that I and others needed serving. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, I found that the bacon was dried to a crisp, it was replaced, but with near raw bacon; also the supply of eggs ran out and it was 20 minutes before they were replaced.
Room and food and surroundings were lovely
There was a wedding going on at the same time & we were unable to park in the car park.
Lovely gardens; pretty chapel / library for wedding ceremonies; quiet; bath in room as well as shower; great breakfast
All good - nothing I didn't like
Bar was not well laid out and was cold.
Reception poor staffing, could not find booking. I got very annoyed especially, after calling to confirm our booking at lunch time.
Could not find booking even though we confirmed the booking at mid day and to say we will be late. When we did arrive at 9pm, it was a good job we had our booking printed off to show them. And the room was not ready! The wall paper in the room was peeling of the wall ahhh.
Lovely location and character building
Room too small and too hot
Beautiful grounds, friendly staff
Ordered room service breakfast- arrived 45mins late after 2 calls to reception & didn't have time to eat it because had to leave for work. In fairness they didn't charge me but it was frustrating. Room was very hot which was not expected in September
We stayed at Wotton House on a beautiful September day. The grounds are stunning set back from the main road peaceful and quiet. The staff are attentive but not overbearing. The rooms are clean and well equipped with lovely comfy beds.
The one thing that I didn't like was the buffet breakfast. The food was cold which was disappointing and it felt rushed not relaxing.
Grounds are amazing and the house is externally spectacular. The gardens are probably good for wedding photos etc it has an amazing garden to the rear
The rooms are small and soul-less and the decor in general is not in keeping with the house or its original character. Bar had no real atmosphere.
Lovely building well worth seeing.
