We loved the beautiful building, it felt elegant and unspoilt by commercialism. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The grounds immaculately kept. We stayed in the Orangery which was away from the main house. We loved our very large room, which was decorated to a high standard and was relaxed, with quality bathroom toiletries and bathrobes. We loved the stylish breakfast. We loved the walk the receptionist recommended (she gave us a printout and well worth doing) Watch out for the residue on the trees when parking your car. We had dinner in the conservatory which was excellent but expensive - Two courses including supplement £39.50 (we chose beef which had a £4.50 supplement).

The staff were exemplary and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very spacious looking over the countryside. We felt at home and thoroughly relaxed. The only thing that could be improved is the menu as it stayed the same for all of the four nights we stayed there.

I thought the location was just wonderful. The fact that the hotel is positioned on a vast plot of land/country-side and is just outside of the bigger towns (close enough to get to them easily but outside of the hustle and bustle)... means it is the ideal location for a break from city life.

Central heating in the room and bathroom did not work and the piping system was noisy throughout the night. Very poor lighting in the bedroom.

Superb. Absolutely exceeded expectations, wished we had booked for longer. Restaurant food (evening meal) a bit fussy for our taste but breakfast tip-top.

The food was excellent and the service was willing and helpful. The radiator in the room was overheating when we arrived, but the receptionist arranged for it to be sorted out, whilst we were at dinner. The taps on the bath dripped continuously, but this did not annoy us unduly, as we could not hear it from the bedroom. The box for the vanity set in the bathroom was empty, although again the receptionist offered us another when I complained. There was only one 'Breakfast tea' in the 'Tea Basket'. I would have thought that the chamber made should have checked and sorted all of these problems when she set up the room. The above 'problems' were somewhat annoying, but did not significantly reduce the pleasure of our stay.

Ideal location for visiting National Trust properties and Cotswold villages. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with countryside views. Breakfast in the conservatory was most enjoyable.

The location, decor and grounds were outstanding. With the advent of spring the scenery was beautiful and totally relaxing. The calibre of the food and alcoholic drinks were, in my opinion, only worthy of a 3 star rating especially as the prices were 5 star. I have no objection to paying a 5 star price providing the quality and service are commensurate with that price.

The peace and quiet of the location. The cleanliness of the room and hotel exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were polite and helpful. Constant tapping noise of the heating system during the night together with the room temperature being too hot even with no radiators being on!

Our room and bathroom were both huge (2 sinks in the bathroom!!) and the bed was a good size. All the staff we encountered were very polite. The food was delicious. We had the evening meal one night, which was quite expensive but worth it for the nice experience. There was a wide selection of fresh food available at breakfast, the full english and the pastries were especially good. There was plenty of free parking and the hotel was in reasonable driving distance of all the places we wanted to visit in the Cotswolds.

I took my Mum for a 3 night break away for her 80th Birthday. The reception staff were very friendy and gave us the disabled car parking spot which was nearer to our room so that we didn't have as far to walk to the car park. The breakfasts were to die for and we filled up before venturing out on the delightful villages not far away. There were plenty of leaflets and information at the Hotel regarding local events and places to go which helped us enourmously. Our room was very spacious with a large bathroom too. The heating was a bit too hot but we did have particularly warm weather for March so it would have been welcomed normally. The square hand basin in the bathroom was very shallow and it was difficult to fill the kettle under the tap. But hey if that's all that was wrong then we can't complain.

Room and position. Friendliness of staff. Felt it was understaffed. When telephoning sometimes nobody available to take call. Not sure the kitchen was organised as well as it could have been.

“A lovely, comfortable, individual hotel in a beautiful, peaceful Cotswold village. The perfect place to explore the Cotswolds from after a very good English breakfast.
