Very friendly and helpful stall, the rooms were comfortable and warm. Enjoyed the food too! There was a strange smell in Reception and in the hall way in the annexe. (Dog or Horse) and the rooms were a bit 70's

sorry to say..very little. tired looking;beds badly need replacing...hard and no support. old blankets and toilet not working. Bar area...needs a good clean....Carpets dirty with lots of dog hairs Dining room again...dour and again needs a good clean As measured against another hotel in the village ..The Tudor arms....The Wyndham Arms Hotel was a distant second. Minor point...It would have been nice to both create an ambience and indeed some warmth in lounge to have lit a fire ( Note in other establishments down the street there was fires ( pub,Tudor hotel). When I asked the case to manager at hotel.....the answer I received ,was lighting a fire was too costly and anyway central heating was on.........??????

Lovely location, 15 to 30 minute drive to lots of attractions, too many to do in one weekend. Staff were very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent and plentiful, so much so, that I think we came home half a stone heavier, despite the miles of beautiful walks close by!! We would definitely go and stay again, but next time we will take the dog, he would have loved it too.

Nothing very much. The location was convenient to meet up with family members. The hotel was shabby and in desperate need of updating and refurbishment. Our bathroom was not really clean, particularly the floor. The toilet required a system of cranking the handle about 7 times then holding it down to get the loo to flush. The bar and dining room were gloomy and grubby. We felt it was very much over-priced for the facilities and location, being in a village without a single shop to purchase a morning newspaper or other essentials. The prices of evening dinner were also very high for the quality of the fare.

The character of the hotel attracted me - an old coaching inn with some original and interesting features. We were staying in the annexe which was modern but we ate in the restaurant and the dinner was good and breakfast excellent. The local area is very appealing. We found the bed rather hard and lumpy and we were only given one towel between us - I assume a mistake.

The staff are very helpful. Breakfast is very nice indeed....it's good to get a nice thick slice of local bacon. Not for you if you like modern, light airy hotels.....it's old and quaint.
