Penrhiw Priory, hotel in Solva

This 5-star bed and breakfast is an elegant stone-built property surrounded by 12 acres of private woods and gardens.

The breakfast was perfect. A massive bowl of fresh fruit for me, with some non dairy yoghurt. I also ate at their hotel for dinner on both nights…the food was delicious and the staff were efficient, but also kind and generous with their conversation. I had a luxurious bath on one evening, looking out to the green natural surrounds. I could have stayed longer.

We stopped here on our way back from St David's for a couple of hours. We walked along the coastal path and up the hill to see the view. We had lunch at Mamgu Welshcakes which offered some unique dishes but it was delicious and great value (and dog friendly). Then we had a look around Window on Wales at the clothes and gifts. Unless you're booking an activity in the summer, I don't think there's enough in Solva to spend a whole day but it is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

there is a noticeable lack of decent restaurants in the Solva and St, Davids area. Food is mainly available in the pubs and a lot of it microwaved. The only pizza place in St, Davids, 'Grain', was fully booked. The Farmers, Bishops and Cross in St. Davids and the Hats and Barrels in Solva are all owened by the same family. Surroundings may differ but the food is very similar. The cambrian Inn in Solva was good but by far the best meal was in the Ship inn. Limited fish menu, a locals pub but the food was exceptional. Try thr monkfish green thai curry.

We love solva tiny village in between st Davids and new gale beach. It’s 2000 year old village and harbour with boats and beautiful houses. The Cambrian in is beautiful and cozzy quiet excellent place to eat and drink l. The food is extra its delicious. We slept really well as it’s so quiet. There are walk ways to go look at the views on the hills. And a lovely gift shop and live music opposite. It’s a must to be visited.

A quiet coastal village, with a couple of great pub restaurants, some interesting nick-nack shops, and some spectacular walking. Usefully central to lots of other beaches and sites. Car is probably essential, although there is a bus service.

Lovely place to visit however needed to book for food and everywhere was full. Even travelled further afield but finding somewhere to just "walk in" was difficult. May be just bad luck for us but we struggled to find anywhere to eat food without having to book prior and this wasn't ideal for us as we never knew where abouts we would be when wanting to eat. People very friendly though. Roads very narrow and hilly.

    Bustling and interesting village.

Bustling and interesting village. Great walks from the car park. Lovely shops. The Cambrian Inn is lovely for an evening meal, probably best to book as it seems very popular. Pavements are quite narrow and the road is busy so take care.
