Friendly family service. Value for money food and drink. High standard bedroom. Hotel looks a bit shabby from the outside approaching from the south. Suggest a lick of paint to give better impression.

Attitude and helpfulness of staff. Quality of restaurant food on regular offer. External appearance did not do justice to what was offered internally.

Staff were courteous and polite at all times and responsive to queries. Food was very tasty and presented well. Room was light, clean and warm with sufficient space to feel relaxed. 1. Externally, the building looks tired and gives an impression of lack of care. First impressions are important and doesnt do the Y Branwen any favours. Attention to some detail would enhance the room but not sufficient to spoilt the experience; Bathroom lightpull cord was grubby, hair dryer not fixed to the wall so the base was hanging from the cord as you dried your hair, weighty and annoying.

Staff were friendly, bedrooms were clean, bar served a variety of drinks. Food was very nice, location was excellent to the Golf club. We were made very welcome and the room was excellent value for money. I would consider staying again if I was playing golf in Harlech or the surrounding areas. Thanks for the enjoyable stay. Nothing to dislike on this particular visit.

The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very goiod with excellent care of the need to provide Gluten Free food for a person suffering from coeliac disease, They deserve real praise for that as it is rare to find a hotel who understand the problem of Gluten containing food. The lack of a bath but that was known on booking, however the option of a room with a bath or a separate facility would have been good.

Not very much. The staff were helpful, courteous and friendly but not very professional. The restaurant food and the breakfasts were acceptable but the menu was very limited. The bed was clean and comfortable and the shower room was well fitted but very small. The room was nicely decorated and fitted but also very small. The location was very poor and was not properly advertised on booking.com website. Although y Branwen was opposite the golf course and close to the castle, it was on a main road and very close to the main railway line - and these details were not included on the website. The bar was not well furnished or very comfortable and it clearly catered for non-residents rather than guests staying at y Branwen. The restaurant was adequately furnished but stopped serving food far too early in the evening at 8.00.P.M. It was unprofessional and inappropriate for staff to be sitting in the entrance hall and reception area chatting, reading or drinking tea/coffee and eating snacks etc. while guests were still eating breakfasts and at other times during the day. We consider that y Branwen was inaccurately advertised on booking.com as a four star hotel and should be advertised as a public house with rooms. It did not seem like a four star place to us. The main passage and stair way to the rooms were also rather shabby and not very clean.

Good food both dinner and breakfast. The hotel had a nice feel about it and the staff we friendly. My initial impression was that it was a bit pubby a d the decor was a bit dated, but the place warmed on us. The shower was strange but functional.

the staff were lovely and helpful- i loved the spa shower and the window seat in my room- very glad i had a front view room .A very pleasant stay and would be fabulous in the summer- if we get one .the location was excellent with a castle to explore and a train nearby. only disadvantage was that the bar was under my room and the noise carried up clearly and outside my window was the smokers area- most people staying in hotel would have been in the bar anyway but we were too tired after dinner and long days of walking and it didnt matter too much as it was only for a couple of hours. You could drown it out with the TV!!

Wonderful staff, room was v clean and comfortable. Food was good and nice to see a selection of real ales served in the bar. First impressions were that the exterior could do with freshening up. Apart from this and one slightly underdone chip, no complaints.
