Rooms. Food. Beer. Staff. Location. Activities. River. Ambience. Proximity to nature. Walks in the Forest of Dean. Great pubs/pub restaurants in the local area. Great atmosphere in the Ye Olde Ferrie Inn bar with friendly locals. Breath taking views from the top of Yat Rock. Rooms had excellent river view. Bed extremely comfortable. Nights very quiet and restful. Tea and ground coffee, along with short bread biscuits available in room. Altogether a memorable experience.

Access to rooms and smell of damp on stairs is offputting on arrival Price of room at £95.00 far too high'there are cheaper 4star hotels in Cwymbran

The view from the window has to be seen to be believed. It must be one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the british isles. The dawn chorus was delightful

The stairs are very steep - difficult for people with mobility problems

Location Food good, promptly served Keen-to-please young staff Views from bedroom

Outside area - in need of someone sweeping up mass of ciggie butts, discarded shoes(!), dog poo and litter on regular basis. Railings could do with a lick of paint. Avoid bedrooms over kitchen (sickly smell all evening) Overall disappointing.

Very friendly pub with fantastic ferry crossing to get there. Landlord very kindly made us BLT sandwiches on the house in lieu of a cooked breakfast!

Location brilliant with views stright out onto the river. Well cooked breakfast, quick and friendly service. Nice bar and outside area next to the river.

The exterior of the building looked untidy and a bit run down, parts of the building needed a lick of paint to brighten up.

Location was great, whiling away the afternoon sitting by the river. Food was good and staff were pleasant and engaging

Could do with a face lift- painting etc., but part of the charm of the building is its age.

Very nice room with lovely views of the river. Very steep staircase down to dinning & lounge area. Ample parking space.

Menu was a bit predictable after 3 days. could have done with more choice of potato not just chips. Bathroom was very cramped.

Arrived for one night on 04/07. We were immediately greeted and made to feel welcome. The Inn is full of character with flagstone floor, leather sofas arranged around an open fire. The restaurant has fantastic views over the river. Our room was homely, well catered for again with views both up and down the river. We ate in the restaurant where we found the menu to be varied and the food excellent. Albeit busy, the service was quick and the staff very polite. Breakfast was served overlooking the river, we had the cooked breakfast and this was plentiful. My partner and myself have stayed in a number of hotels but I can honestly say Jamie and the Team are the most friendly, attentive and polite people we have met. Nothing is too much trouble and the service they provide is first class. Look forward to returning in September. A fabulous place with fantastic people.

    Coming home!

We liked the location and being right on the river was a superb setting in the sun. The room was very clean and adequate for our needs. The staff on first arrival at the Old Ferrie Inn were more than welcoming and in fact everyone in the establishment were very professional and helpful and could not have done more for us during our stay. We ate there also on both nights we stayed and the food was excellent and we highly recommend it, even if you are not intending to stay, the food would not disappoint. We would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to our friends and family. Thoroughly enjoyable.

We cannot actually say there was anything which we did not like about it.

Lovely spot by the river with views to die for. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food. Comfortable room. Good value.

Steep narrow stairs to top floor rooms (but nothing they could do about that - it's the price you pay for a room with that view!) Very small bathroom, in need of some repairs.
