In the heart of the Wye Valley, this traditional English country Inn overlooks the River Wye and ancient Goodrich Castle. It offers a modern Restaurant Grill and bright, airy rooms.
Score from 421 reviews Very good
The staff were excellent. It has a great atmosphere and is a superb location. The hotel is very old so you have to respect that it won't be as clean and efficient as a modern hotel but we had everything we needed and the food was great.
The carpets are a bit old and smell.
Jamie and staff very welcoming and helpful.
location, location, location.... food, friendly helpful staff, walking in the area
a little TLC to bedroom/bathroom would make say even better
Staff helpfulness and excellent breakfast
ensuite facility cheap and nasty
The River View. Jamie & his team. The room and bathroom - piping hot water. Good selection of beers. The unpretentiousness and friendliness.
friendliness & hospitality of Jamie & staff.Excellent bedroom & bathroom facilities. Fab location .Very tasty breakfast & main meals. very well stocked bar.Large carpark
The view from our room was excellent being able to see both up and down the river.breakfast was excellent great choices even had Marmite!
Directions re fire exit was not evident ,the manager was advised on what should be done to remedy.
Jamie and his staff are very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is excellent - the rooms have beautiful views over the river and are bright, airy and well-equipped. If I was to be ultra picky then perhaps a couple extra power sockets in the rooms would be good, but this is a very minor point. The food is excellent - plenty of choice and a good price and always nicely presented. The range of beers, ciders and wines is good too. All in all this is a fantastic place to stay.
There was nothing at all to dislike.
The local walks by the river. The ferry. Watching Kingfishers from the bedroom window. Good breakfasts. Friendly staff.
Location on the river, bird song, seeing a kingfisher. Decent pub grub & friendly service.
Confusion on arrival over booking. Not cheap at £85 a night.
Rooms. Food. Beer. Staff. Location. Activities. River. Ambience. Proximity to nature. Walks in the Forest of Dean. Great pubs/pub restaurants in the local area. Great atmosphere in the Ye Olde Ferrie Inn bar with friendly locals. Breath taking views from the top of Yat Rock. Rooms had excellent river view. Bed extremely comfortable. Nights very quiet and restful. Tea and ground coffee, along with short bread biscuits available in room. Altogether a memorable experience.
fantastic location, excellent breakfast, pleasant host
The location is idyllic and the owner and his team are very personable .
everything about it,
Excellent location, staff were extremely efficient and the quality of the food was superb. Nothing was too much trouble
The staff were excellent, all friendly and helpful, including help with our luggage Food was of a good standard
Access to rooms and smell of damp on stairs is offputting on arrival Price of room at £95.00 far too high'there are cheaper 4star hotels in Cwymbran
Location, staff, food and beer.
The view from the window has to be seen to be believed. It must be one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the british isles. The dawn chorus was delightful
The stairs are very steep - difficult for people with mobility problems
Location Food good, promptly served Keen-to-please young staff Views from bedroom
Outside area - in need of someone sweeping up mass of ciggie butts, discarded shoes(!), dog poo and litter on regular basis. Railings could do with a lick of paint. Avoid bedrooms over kitchen (sickly smell all evening) Overall disappointing.
large airy clean room, good pub food views to die for
Can't think of anything!
Very friendly pub with fantastic ferry crossing to get there. Landlord very kindly made us BLT sandwiches on the house in lieu of a cooked breakfast!
Location brilliant with views stright out onto the river. Well cooked breakfast, quick and friendly service. Nice bar and outside area next to the river.
The exterior of the building looked untidy and a bit run down, parts of the building needed a lick of paint to brighten up.
Location was great, whiling away the afternoon sitting by the river. Food was good and staff were pleasant and engaging
Could do with a face lift- painting etc., but part of the charm of the building is its age.
