“Enjoyed our stay at the Anchor - u get what u pay for. This hotel is value for money. The food in the bar was excellent. The rooms are nice and cosy too. The staff are very helpul - they even helped us to our room when we returned late one night blind drunk!”

Bed quality wonderful; V. supportive. Quirky layout of rooms and access. Breakfast baked beans best ever and egg great. Reception and bar staff very helpful: polite and friendly. All requests met quickly. Please note that we did not whinge about issues in the following section; so don't blame the staff. In any event, what could the staff do to change matters!!!! Limited recommendation. Limited parking off-road. 2 hand pumps, but no cask ale for our stay (at weekend??) Abysmal breakfast sausage and bacon quality. Embarrassingly creaky (and loose!) floorboards in room; this being over bar area! (Room 16) Stale fat smell from kitchen during stay. Sorry, but these were our dislikes and therefore must be construed as potential complaints.......errr.....obviously!! How can you comment on "didn't like" without making a "complaint" ??? Dohhh!!

The staff were friendly but unprofessional. Decent breakfast. The immediate impression of the hotel was low quality - the carpet on the stairs leading up to the rooms was dirty. The room didn't look clean and the bathrom was tiny. Beds were uncomfortable. Parking is very limited.

The whole deal from begining to end, polite staff, friendly atmosphere and very clean and tidy room. A real pleasure. The parking was a bit limited and would probably be an issue in high season but there is alternative parking nearby.

Good value for money Had to wait about 10 minutes before any one came to the reception even though they seen us walking through with suitcases, in the end had to call some onefrom the bar, at night they lock all the doors and we cudnt get in, finally found a door left open and couldnt find our room as the whole place was in complete darkness. Didnt get told what time breakfast was either.

The room was warm and comfortable. The breakfast was freshly cooked. I was going to have a bar meal but no one was serving at the bar. The staff member responsible for serving breakfast was 30 minutes late. The TV did not work in my room.

The breakfast was excellent and at the price included in the accomodation the whole stay was good value The room (9) was a double but it would have been a struggle to have 2 people in it as the bed only just fitted into it.

Very friendly staff and a lovely old building Stunning location I feel breakfast is stopped too early on Sundays as most people are on a break and dont want to be up that early. Also the walls are very thin if your neighbour is noisy or is watching tv you can hear it. The corridors are very very cold Parking was limited and I feel guests who are staying at the hotel should be a priority over dinner/evening guests

There wasn't a great deal to like about ye old anchor inn. The limited number of staff on duty tried their best to deal with the issues but the hotel is very run down and living on its lost reputation. We had damp bathrooms, poor maintenance of lights, heating and plumbing and to cap it all we had cold food. Some of the problems went on throughout our 5 day stay and a number of people left because they had had enough. A great shame beacause it looked so good on the website. We will not be returning to ye old anchor.

Staff were very friendly and the food is good and good value. Rooms are dated and need updating as well as the common areas. Some areas had issues which were of a concern.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating The hotel left a lot to be desired - the hotel owner went in to administration a few months ago and it is very evident that there is a distinct lack of money available - we had no hot water or heating during our stay, there were numerous light bulbs not working and these weren't replaced despite members of our group informing the staff.

Not a lot Lots of things, well we did Check Out early and happier to face a daily 1.5hr commute each way rather than stay at Ye Old Anchor Inn. Until the miriade of issues sorted at this hotel, we would never recommend this as a place to stay, nor will be ever stay there again. By far and away the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

evening meal was good and staff were helpful and eager to please but were restricted because it was obvious the hotel was being run on a shoestring. reception was sparse as staff were doing many jobs at once.no hot water in room so could'nt get showers.lights not working in bathroom .room stank of cooking smells from kitchen.no ice in bar. breakfast although well cooked was poor half black pudding, one sausage one rasher of bacon and a lot of dog dirt on surrounding pavements on the whole very scruffy.as we had booked two rooms our daughter thought the same .I felt quite embarrassed that i had brought them to such a place

Friendly staff Probably could do with refurbishing. Room small would have been better with out the single bed in the room this made it very cramped.Shower left. A lot to be desired the shower head was split and kept falling of but very clean.
