We were warmly greeted by staff and shown to our room y the manager. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was a particular highlight. Excellent food served by a hapy and friendly waitress
The barmaid was smiley and enthusistic but couldn't pull a pint for toffee. She topped it up without prompting but returned it in the same frothy state!
Like the friendly staff food was fab hmgreat atmosphere
Sta ff fantastic
Booking out by 11am no one to give you a settlement receipt had to call them
Very basic accommodation, but the rooms were clean.
Very friendly and helpful staff and good parking.
Having an average breakfast whilst the cleaners cleaned round us !
Quietness even though there was a late night disco. Room was comfortable and warm.
Cold toilet floor.
A very enjoyable stay, a bit of time out to relax and have fun.
Carpets and decorations were grubby
Attractive building and good breakfast Would be a good place to stay if you want to drink and dance til the early hours
Loud music continues to 2pm and the last revellers did not leave until 2.45. Our room was above an exit so very very noisy. Breakfast finished at 9 on Sunday - too early given how late most of the guests would have got to sleep.
Nice clean comfortable room
The noise from the music downstairs was to loud, even with earplugs I could hear it and that was on a Sunday night.
Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere
Don't have room 1. I didn't sleep as there was a constant noise from the room below. Wasn't noise from people but equipment. Spoilt what wood have been a good stay, (I need my sleep)
The Olde Griffin is just what the title says. It's a very quaint old English pub with accommodation. The staff are very helpful, polite and obliging. If i ever find i need a stopover in March again then it's here i'll try first.
Sadly the only negative i could find was that my stopover was on a Friday night. My room was located next to the main car park in the town, which wasn't a problem until early Saturday morning when the local market set up at 6am. Other than that there are No negatives.
friendliness of the staff good restaurant cleanliness of rooms cleanliness of the restaurant
parking facilities were poor because the hotel is also a local public house people coming to drink there filled the car park in the evening making it difficult for guests to park fire alarm going off at 02:40 am because of a fault waking all the guests
Excellent location with a short walking distance to the train station
cozy hotel cozy room great food fab staff
Great staff great breakfast lovely stay
The food is good
I wasn't told at time of booking the bar turns into a nightclub at 10pm and the disco carries on til 2am
the staff were great, breakfast waitress was very very good.
Room were to warm could do with a window that opened.
Have stayed at the Griff many times and will always do so providing it is not full!! Food is of a good enough varied standard and price, similarly the choice of real ales. Will return again as always.
Bathroom door handle and lock did not work
We found the staff welcoming and had nice atmosphere. Food freshly cooked and very nice. The hotel was clean, good location in centre of town with parking facilities. The bed was comfortable and was able to get a good nights sleep once disco had finished.
Windows didn't close properly to shut out the noise from the beer garden of an evening which can get very loud however earplugs are provided.
breakfast was good..friendly staff..
Staff very helpful, nice decor and good atmosphere.
The bed was not a double as booked. The noise did not subside until 2.30 am and then woken at six by street cleaners followed by town clock chimes
Friendly staff, decent-sized room with a fair amount of tea, coffee, etc. to hand, plus the inclusion of free ear-plugs to accommodate for nights when there is karaoke (and typical Friday/Saturday night activity). Breakfast has a reasonable choice of options, and location provides relatively easy access to surrounding towns and cities.
Access to rooms is restricted to the door key only - despite the presence of security doors and accompanying card swipe systems, these do not seem to be in operation, resulting in general access to the hotel area of the property.
value for money, good breakfast. very pleased they informed us about disco on till 2am. they do provide earplugs. lovely village.
be prepared to stay up late if staying on saturdays.
