“A great location next to the river with fantastic breakfasts.”
James,
London
This modernized, 5-star traveler's inn provides restful rooms with a rustic elegance, and simple, tasty local food. Parts of the building date back to 1135, and the inn’s crooked floors and modest decor stylishly echo its origin. The Olde Bell is one hour from Central London, and 20 minutes from Heathrow using public transportation. In warmer months, enjoy local ales and food from the ‘summer kitchen’ in the huge meadow garden. In winter, there are cozy open fires. Wi-Fi internet is available. I was surprised to find there was no bar available to residents and amazed to find out that the bar closed at between 10 and 10.30pm on a Saturday evening

The main building is beautiful. Gorgeous wooden floors and exposed beams. The restaurant is also lovely, we had an exquisite meal there. Our room was in the barn across the road. It was very nice and spacious, the bed was really comfortable and it was beautifully light. Continental breakfast was included in our room rate. There was a wonderful selection of pastries, cold meats, cheese, smoked salmon, fruit and yoghurts. Also on offer were some delicious home baked mini muffins, banana bread and rye bread. I was really wonderful.

The rooms were beautifully designed. The bar and restaurant were spacious, very comfortable and snug. The garden was large and let children run around. And the food was simply delicious. My only complaint was the lack of fridge in the rooms. When you are travelling with a baby, fridges are a must. I ended up having to throw a lot of milk and fruit.

Everything was perfect with the exception of one member of staff, the bar or restaurant manager. He seemed to take abject pleasure from giving his staff a hard time for no reason, micro-managing and nit-picking. It made for an uneasy atmosphere. The rest of the staff were fantastic.

A great location next to the river with fantastic breakfasts. We were in room 11 above the kitchen which was very noisy when the staff started talking very loudly before 6 in the morning.

The location and ambiance were just what we wanted. There seem to be no twin-bedded rooms, and so one of us enjoyed a large comfortable bed and the other was on a trestle bed. The bar is very small and so there was little room on either evening.

The Olde Bell is a really lovely hotel in an idealic setting near the river Thames. Our room in the main hotel was very comfortable and came with with a large bath and walk in shower also. The bar downstairs was very rustic and atmospheric with a large open fire. The restuarant was very large and spacious and both the staff and food were excellent, all in all, what with the weather being fine also for the time of year, made this a truly memorable stay. The food and drink was in our opinion, slightly on the expensive side for what we had and there was limited choice if you didnt eat fish and some meats. Room only included a buffet breakfast, not a full english as displayed.

The design of the rooms was very good and the food was good, Wish a fridge was in my suite and would also liked normal jam to have been offered at breakfast, not just the farm jam.

My husband and I have recently celebrated our 25th wedding Anniversary and I booked the weekend site seeing as a suprise for him and an opportunity to get away from it all and relax for a few days. We had a fantastic time exploring the local conrtyside and the 'Old Bell' is amazing ,relaxed, comfortable with stunning gardens, friendly staff and a 'Rubarb creme brule' to die for. We will be booking again very soon Expensive...would like to have checked out a little later...but we can not complain a tall

We really enjoyed the location and surrounding countryside, very beautiful with lots of wildlife. We were initially put in a very small room which we didn't like, located over the road from the hotel, but the staff were brilliant and moved us to the main building immediately.

Dinner No place at all to store your clothes. One radiator was making a lot of noice so we could not sleep. In the middle of the night we were supposed to change room and had to pass over a small street in our bathrobes and went upstairs in the main building to get some sleep in a quiet room. There was also a wedding going on with some noices that we could hear when we could not sleept in the first room without to open the window because of the heeted radiator.
