Food was excellent
Remote on to did not work
I had a motor intermittently noisy outside my room Don't sleep in number 8
The staff and location couldn't be faulted . The Sirlin steaks which a number of us had for dinner were not that nice - have had a lot better else where . Had to ask for bath towels - only one in the bathroom for two of us . The hotel was very busy and we did enjoy ourselves just the quality of the chosen steak let it down ! Breakfast was good so no quibble there .
breakfast and restaurant. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful
dirty carpets. Shabby battered staircase. Uncomfortable pillows and bed. One miserable vacant looking member of bar staff.
Staff were excellent Room spacious & comfortable
Dinner disappointing. Wife's Slow Roasted leg of lamb was like a "deconstructed shepherd's pie" My partridge was tough I should have asked for a steak knife!
We were upgraded to a suite, which was very much appreciated. The room was spacious, with a 6' bed, and luxurious bathroom. Very good evening meal, and breakfast. All the staff were courteous and friendly, can highly recommend.
Only had one night there!
Everyone and everything was fantastic, the staff ,food, accommodation and a very quiet hotel. Had a lovely stay, everyone made a special day even more special Thank you to all staff
Quality of service. - very professional
Room was overlooking the road although was quite wuiet through the night
All the staff were friendly efficient and very helpful and courteous. Our family joined us for dinner and the restaurant staff atmosphere and food were very good indeed.
Having to leave!
Easy location, very nice room in the courtyard with a really comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Very good food in the evening and at breakfast. Very helpful staff.
Nothing to complain about!
Accommodation Service Staff attitude Friendly atmosphere
Food was not up to standards of the surroundings which may have been due to other functions stretching kitchen resources
Overall it is excellent.
Room was very good and clean, just let down by a dirty carpet, reported on departure.
Staff Food Room
The hotel is comfortable, and bedroom well furnished. The bathroom was clean, but towels could be whiter.
On entering the bedroom the glass on the coffee table was not clean and had removable marks on it, the wardrobe mirrors were very dusty, not what we expected.
17th century hotel with lots of character. Nice, happy, friendly staff. Good quality food at both dinner and breakfast.
Busy road close to hotel. Extraordinarily squeaky floorboards!
We came back to the hotel where we had our wedding reception in 1989. It hadn't changed a lot to be honest, except I think the restaurant was better. As a wedding venue it is fantastic - it has the grounds, the wedding licence, the reception rooms etc. Going back after 25 years as a couple was interesting in that it made us realise that at the weekend the venue is geared almost entirely to weddings - there were two occurring when we were there. The room was good, the restaurant food was very good, the staff were helpful and we enjoyed it.
We had to sit with all the wedding guests for breakfast - which when I mentioned this to the reception staff, they acknowledged the issue and offered us a discount to compensate without any quibble.
Disco under our window until 1.00 a.m
We attended a function at the hotel and the food there and for the English Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely airy bedroom (we were there in a heatwave)
Nice room .pleasant staff.lots of hot water .warm room.
Windows didn't shut properly.thought meal was a bit expensive for what I got, husbands OK .
Welcome. Ambience. Rooms
Breakfast times didn't fit my schedule. 7am start would have helped. I didn't have breakfast either day... Too late for me at 730 start.
excellent staff very friendly and helpful beautiful room excellent food we had a great time
Staff were very friendly & attentive. Overall opinion of the stay was positive.
I thought the food (evening meal) menu was a little expensive. Although the hotel B&B rate was competitive.
Really friendly staff, good for business travellers
Booking.com need to give better directions for drivers. The post code covers a vast area and a sat nav can take you up to 5 miles away (but on the right road).....the staff say it is a common problem so why not fix it Booking.com?
Lovely place, good atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff
To really nit-pick - the parking was a bit tight!
Very good food, excellent service. A really good stay
A smell of paint(?) in the bedroom
