The warm welcome by owner. This was a repeat visit so we knew what to expect and were not let down in any way. Bedroom well appointed with plenty of tea/coffee/chocolate drinks available. Immaculately clean and as an old station the noise of trains going through alongside did not disturb us in any way, in fact, a lovely sound - just the steam missing! Breakfast was more than adequate with good selection of cereals and full English cooked breakfast, toast etc. Plenty of car parking. A lovely, quiet setting, really peaceful and we shall definitely be returning in the future. We are not television people, in fact not owning one, so television on during breakfast was not appreciated - but, we could have asked for it to be switched off and am sure owner would have obliged.

The welcome was lovely and I liked the quirky old fashioned flowery decor although this would not appeal to some! Nice bathroom. The pillows were hard as rocks and the room was difficult for two people to move around in as it was so cramped. As we were there only for one night, it didn't really matter too much, but I would not recommend more than a couple of nights and then only if location, which it was to us, was the overriding factor.

The proprietor was extremely hospitable, friendly and put us at our ease. She was especially good with our young son. We had visited Thomasland before and stayed at this hotel because it looked nicer than the more commercial ones which were closer. This time we deliberately returned to the same hotel (despite the extra distance and price) because we had enjoyed our stay so much the previous time. My son particularly liked the fact that we could see trains from the side window of the family room! The whole hotel was spotlessly clean too. It was hard to find anything to dislike but there was one very minor point - the water feature outside our window meant we had to shut it!

Pat and her son were very helpful. The constant trains going past all night. I wish I had read some reviews first as if I had I don't think I would have stayed there.

The people kept ringing me asking my check in time. I gave them time in the evening and once the time passed by they kept ringing on and off.. bit annoying.. apart from that the B&B itself is pretty neat. Just that to get to the high street you probably drive 15 mins before you see any ATM machine :)

Old Station ligy direkt aan een dubbele spoorlijn met vooral 's-nacht veel treinverkeer. Zeker onrustig met kamers aan de achterzijde.
