The location of this hotel is excellent - it's at the end of a street of lovely tudor properties and is well located for visiting the Royal Worcester Museum, Cathedral and Commandery There is quite a lot of noise from the street outside - we were expecting this as many reviews mention it. I had eggs benedict for breakfast one morning and it was appaling.

I was attracted to Ye Olde Talbot by the 'olde worlde' aspect. The outside of the hotel lived up to it as did the bar and restaurant. The restaurant staff work very hard but didn't have the time to pay attention to detail. On checking in, the receptionist was extremely flustered and it was quite obvious he was trying to cover more than one job. We were allowed to check in 30 minutes early, however, on arriving at our room we found the cleaner there and she said the room wasn't ready and we shouldn't have been allowed to check in yet. At dinner in the restaurant, we were given the wrong drink order, the wrong starter, and some items were missing from my son's meal. The restaurant was busy with only two waiting on. The bedroom decor is rather shabby and there is something lacking to give it that cosy feeling. This could be a super place but the management need to invest a little more in extra staff and finishing touches.

Convenient - very close to the Cathedral. If you want someone at the reception desk, you have to go to the bar to find them.

I love its age - roof beams, odd little corridors and courtyard. Staff are charming and the food is good. And the windows open.

The room, the staff, the pub, the bath, the free wifi, the breakfast! It was quite noisy but this didn't stop me sleeping. There weren't many channels but I could watch catchup tv on my laptop so it didn't matter.

Clean, charming, helpful staff. As a single female with a large suitcase I was disappointed to find there was no lift and no porter to help. There was no dressing robe and no bathroom toiletries. Also, whilst the staff were very good they were very short staffed as the reception area was not always manned and I could not get in touch with them on the telephone.

My room (4) was a quirky shape which I liked. and had most amenities. Although I let the water run for a while on bioth occasions, and set the dial high, I was unable to get hot water from the shower on either the evening or in the morning.

Location was a nice walk into town with good pubs & lovely breakfast Noisy at night down that back road kept me awake most of the night. And another menber of my party. Would you recommend Ye Olde Talbot Hotel to other travellers? I would but I would tell them about that back road.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Food was very good with an excellent choice at breakfast. Very good value for money. I would consider staying there again. The hotel had only just opened again after being closed for refurbishment and there were a few niggles connected with that; such as the bathroom door sticking and not closing properly, the wardrobe door wouldn't stay closed and kept swinging open and the sound of rushing water going through the radiator and water pipes was incredibly loud and woke me up several times during the night. The new tv didn't work in my room but the staff were very helpful and found me another room so that I could watch the particular programme I wanted to see.The staff tried to solve all of the issues I raised and intended to bring the builders back to sort out the problems.

“The location was excellent as we travelled by train, Foregate St station is about 50 yrds away. The fact it had a pool and sauna ws great after a hard days shopping in the excellent Christmas market. Room was full of space and the double bed was large and comfortable. The Special £20 set menu for Christmas including a glass of wine nd three courses was excellent value ( Cranberry Sauce was delicious ) Staff were friendly and very helpful. Will probably come again for the market next year.” Peter, West Wickham. Kent |

“This I think was my fourth stay at the Fownes. I have always been impressed by the friendly, helpful staff and the size and comfort of the rooms plus being close to the City centre. It is ideal to reach the the shops, bars, restaurants and places in interest and in my case watching Worcester City F.C. There is a good car park unlike some hotels and it is east to find by road or on foot. I cannot comment on the food too much but of the couple of meals I have had the selection was good and the food tasty. Will certainly use again and am happy to recommend to others. ” Simon, West Wickham |
