wifi in lobby only, no network in bed room.. but its good to chat with room friends instead keeping urself bg on a facebook :)
Staff helpful, drying room brilliant, good facilities
Bed not good enough, since I booked a single room and paid a premium for that...it was a bunk room, yes to myself but a bunk all the same. Expected a proper bed.
Views across the lake. Nice staff. Nice bar with fine real ale (and lakeside views).
Thin mattress. Washrooms are tiny with micro-sinks - attempting to wash spills on the floor. Awkward having to park down the road in a pay-and-display carpark, as the limited hostel parking was full.
Position, right next to lake, fantastic views. Everything great booked again
Could feel springs in mattres
Environment is very very beautiful
I can't use le card of YHA if I book it by booking.....
Location, value, bar and food, friendliness of people.
I liked everything.
Self catering clean cheap good location car park
pay wifi no toiletries and towel
location was beautiful
good lake view and good staff
not near city centre so not enough restaurant.
wifi, great bar, great food, really lovely staff, great price, overlooking the lake :)
you lose wifi in the bedrooms
I love this hostel - well equipped, efficiently run, fabulous lakeside location, cheap bar, reasonable food, great drying room, very comfy beds.
beds are small
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Very effective drying room.
There weren't many comfortable seats in the bar/rest areas. I wanted to slouch reading a book - there were only a few bucket chairs and settees. There were some leather seats without any backs which didn't seem a popular choice. Being woken by people arriving late to the dormitory who then took ages to unpack and sort themselves out. They then dropped what sounded like a thermos flask from the top bunk twice during the night! Have the essentials ready and unpack properly in the morning!
I liked the location. Beautiful views. It's very clean. Food at the restaurant is nice and the prizes are reasonably.
I didn't liked that in the rooms there is nothing. I felt like I was forced to go down stairs as the wifi work mainly down stairs. It was my first time that I've been in a shared bathroom hotel and didn't liked so much.
The staff especially Orla was very helpful. She went an extra mile to help us and give us a lake facing room on Xmas day. Special thank you to her.
The toilets were always dirty.
The staff whom I encountered were really really helpful. They have good knowledge of surroundings and are able to give you good advice on how to get around. I did lock my keys in my locker(silly me) will all my luggage, within 2 hours I was assisted with a bolt cutter and without damaging the locker was able to access my luggage. The facilities and public areas definitely surpass those available in most BB's . Breakfast was great, hot filling , good variety and only for GBP 4.99.
Needs to be more consistency in the cleaning, I know that the YHA's are volunteer based but hiring one housekeeper (trained) twice a week to do deep cleaning on different areas will make a world of difference. The stray hairs in the bathroom and dusty corners and cobwebs were a bit of a let down . to another wise lovely place.
Shower, wi fi
Creaking floors, slamming doors, ridiculous and unneccessary toilets cluttered with equipment, absence of lounge with comfortable seating , books games, if we'd have booked daily through booking .com room price would have been £20 per night instead of the £60 per night that we payed.no discount given for my life membership as I booked through booking .com because the yha booking site was unusable.
Facilities and Staff
My room was cold and draughty with some damp
I was so lucky to be arranged a lakeside room. There was full lake view. Amazing! Enjoy meals in self catering room. Clean and tidy.
Lovely upgraded hostel in idyllic location. Friendly place to stay and even an out door terrace for some Lakeland luxury!
Room overlooking Lake
On Arrival and whilst at the hostel the staff were very friendly and gave you good information about the hostel and local area. Food in the bar and breakfast was excellent there was even live music on the saturday night. Will stay here again.
Only down side was the car park is abit small and was full so had to park a short way away, but there is ample parking only 2 minutes away.
Character bar atmosphere
