Boggle Hole is the quintessential hostel experience. It is wedged into a sharp outlet right on the coast. The accommodations are simple but comfortable and clean. The staff is wonderfully friendly and welcoming. The somewhat isolated location requires some walking, but that's part of the charm!
Great location. Helpful friendly staff. Good nights sleep, even with a large group of students staying there
Tiny room,no communal area at accommodation block.
the staff were very helpful. the location is stuning, the beds were clean and so were most of the facilities.
needs abit of an update. the windows, legdes, and scurting boards need cleaning
Stunning location. Very tranquil. Staff were friendly and helpful. My room was small but comfortable. The whole place had a very peaceful vibe. I felt safe at all times despite how dark it got at night!
I struggled to find the car park on my first day. I found the sign post slightly confusing as it said "Beach only" in the direction I actually needed to go. If "Youth hostel car park" could be added that would be helpful
The interior was decorated in a very quirky way with goblins etc which delighted even older children Staff were friendly and extra helpful Bedding clean and beds comfortable
Was quite noisy at night with kids and adults shouting in the corridor until well after 11. We were disappointed about this as we had an early start and were courteous enough to leave quietly whilst others were sleeping
The location is just wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The beds were too small and the food could have been a bit better.
The location, so close to the sea.
My room was in the annexe up a hill with steep steps, causing a fall.
If you want a place in the nature this is the place.
When I arrived at 8pm the kitchen was already closed and since it is not easy to reach I didn't have many opportunities for dinner (my fault i didn't ask first...).
Unlike hostels of my youth we could stay out as late as we wanted, our double room had it's own key. and there were no 'chores' to do. Friendly staff, quirky signs, fun. A hostel I've long wanted to stay in for it's name.
Greasy breakfast (but there was choice). Would not suit anyone who wanted luxury or parking at the door - there is a walk from the car park.
Character, Locations, Friendliness, Cleanliness.
Size of the room, Location of the room - a constant stream of people with the room banging & shower motor.
The place is clean , quiet and in a beautiful location.
Just wish someone would have warned us about a very steep hill to get from car park to hostel, any elderly person or someone with walking difficulties will find it nigh on impossible to get to and from car park to hostel without a great deal of help.
loved the peaceful location the view from our window staff friendly .we had a great time thanks Julie bingham hull
This hostel was in a beautiful location. It is not that convenient to get to, but the walk along the cliffs from Robin Hood's Bay was an enjoyable one, and the isolation was part of the charm. There is also a pub attached, and it is possible to buy dinner and breakfast, so there is no need to make the trip into town all the time. The staff were also pretty friendly.
Generally it was just a bit dirty. The showers were a little icky, and everything was just a bit worn down. It had good character, but was a bit like staying in a camp---that sort of quality. That said, it wasn't unpleasant, just not what I would have expected for the money; I'd have been perfectly happy staying there if it hadn't been so expensive.
Position remote but near enough to Robin Hoods Bay
Needs updating understand this will be done this winter 2914 Breakfast basic and hard to get near the coffee and juice for the queue at breakfast servery
Steph on reception patiently gave me very helpful directions when I was arriving late at night. She was very welcoming and went out of her way to settle me in, despite obviously having a busy night. A welcoming, comfortable and fun stay for any passing smugglers.
The location was wonderful, the home cooked food was surprisingly good, the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and we managed to swim in the sea before supper.
Stunning location, excellent food, helpful staff and fabulous value
Lovely location, clean, quiet and functional facilities, and helpful staff who reunited us with a coat we left behind.
We liked everything, but probably not a place for people with an aversion to stairs and lengthy walks to/from car park.
Stunning location, and lovely relaxed youth hostel right beside sea. Parked in robin hoods bay and walked over top, or along beach depending on tide. Excellent kitchen facilities and nice staff.
Overpriced- cost same as b+b in robin hoods bay despite sharing a room for 4 and not having breakfast included... Really too much for a b+b. otherwise perfect though
A lot of thought has gone in to the decoration of the hostel, well done. First time I have seen wall hooks in the bedroom and a chest of drawers . Staff were very efficient and friendly even though it was a busy night with a wedding party coming in.
In annex shower rooms were a bit scruffy, not dirty but very tired looking. Dinning room had too many tables in it and so was very squashed . Lovely idea to have dressing up clothes for the kids but the noise with the high heel shoes while in the dinning room was very loud. I,m a life member but I think the price for a twin room and breakfast on top of this makes me use YHA only when I can,t get a B& B .
Welcome from staff was lovely, straight forward details on checking in etc, great location, good food, freindly staff.... All you could wish for really
This YHA is fantastically quirky and obviously well loved by those who work there. The location is amazing but make sure you have good shoes - flip flops will not cut it on the walk down (and back up) the hill/jetty. We'll be back.
Only a tiny thing - each bed could do with a reading light.
the beautiful location so close to the sea and walking distance to robin hoods bay. I also liked the pirate theme especially great for young children and dressing up clothes.. great price.
the crying baby through the night, for a long time . the mother should of comforted the baby and thought of other guests. The jump in price in high season
It was quirky and fun and welcoming.
