1. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2. Nice Pods (we lived in one of them). It was warm enough inside a Pod even in December. 3. Friendly and outdoor-active community.
We lived in a Pod. It was a positive experience but these things could be done better: 1) No wall hooks in a Pod. It was impossible to hang even a damp towel. No place for jacket also. 2) Only two 220V sockets - both used for lamp and heater. No socket for phone charger etc.
excellent friendly staff good location wonderful food
cosy pod for 1 adult/2 kids Food Lounge areas Table tennis Location Friendly staff
Very cozy, great food.
Very cold in the room when we first arrived. Difficult to get the room to warm up.
The location, the friendly staff
Wifi not available in the room was a bad thing.
Showers were new and clean but only two for camping field and pods so in summer this would get very busy and only one toilet !
Nothing it was all good

Fabulous location.Excellent food. Super clean facilities.Very hard working, friendly and helpful staff.
The price we paid for 2 nights in a two bedded room with bunkbeds and shared facilities-£98.Ridiculous!
food- very good value and quality
lack of multi-bed dormitory space
Helpful staff Good location
No phone signal and they charge 1£ per 20 minutes of wi-fi No coffee or tea for guests
Location The staff The bar The room The shower The 6% local ale
The hostel is beautifully situated and the lobby-bar is quite charming.the prices are very high at the lake district but you have here a good alternative.
The room was a bit smelly and the floor not very clean.but for a hostel it was a good accommodation.

The people staying in the hostel were really friendly, did not feel uncomfortable being on my own at all. Self catering kitchen was brilliant.
Parking was a bit of a nightmare, but I think this was unusual as the hostel was very busy.
stunning view all around the place
The self catering facilities. Our pod. Great atmosphere, food and location.
Large leather seating, good for a group of people to socialise together. It was good having your bed made up.
I didn't realise the recycling was out side, when it did use it I got myself looked outside. Maybe some signs are needed or some small recycling bins in the kitchen.
Great location, comfortable and clean, lovely staff who welcomed me warmly. The food was great and everything was provided that you could want, given its location. A wonderful rest point for the weary walker - thank you!
Big dorms which are not en suite. Difficult to get quality sleep
a good place to stay after a long days walk all you need at hand, food, bar, shower, bed, great.
dorma type rooms
My own blow up bed! Grr need new one...
Late check in and early departure with no fuss Perfect for a place to crash
Excellent facilities, bar (yippee) and restaurant. plenty of places to sit and relax, including outside -as long as its warm and dry :-) It was very clean, pleasant staff and the food was excellent and good value for money, and after a 30 mile walk, boy was I hungry.
The beds. After a long walk the metal bunk-beds were not the easiest to get into, especially the top bunk with sore feet on a little ladder. But I didn't expect much more and it was clean. But that could also be an age thing, we are early 50's. :-(
The YHA Borrowdal is a lovely place to stay and perfect for hikers. You are also only a short drive from Keswick. Originally we thought we had booked a private room but they actually put us in a POD located outside. We absolutely loved it and were away from the hustle of the hostel. You are supposed to bring you own bedding if staying in a POD, but they kindly provided us with some. Second time I have stayed here and will certainly be back. Great value for money...
