Location was great for walking , views were amazing & staff very helpful ,
We were welcomed on arrival - always a good start. The food was plentiful and good choices were available. Staff were courteous and attentive Location was excellent
Beds were a little narrow No draft beer
Location;facilities; staff- especially, bubbly, friendly Louise.
The breakfast was much more than expected and really set us up for the whole days walking The staff here where more than helpful.
Location, great large drying room, helpful staff, nice dining room, large and clean.
Small self catering kitchen, no heating in lounge, we were in Room 15 in the attic small door leading to it we had to duck down to get in and no heating although heater in room. Thin duvets and hard mattress, clothes we left in room became damp overnight. Evening meal was microwaved took ages to eat it, bland in taste.
I loved the location, the staff were friendly and helpful, saw lots of wildlife during our visit from red squirrels , badgers, foxes and woodpeckers. :-)
found the beds mattress too hard, and the self catering kitchen lacked decent cooking equipment.
Very friendly, smashing walking centre, short distance to local Inn & Hotel. Excellent breakfast at very reasonable cost. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Having to be in by 11pm but understandable for YHA accomodation. Not much of a gripe!
Very nice place, nice food and people
Being charged more on arrival than the price originally quoted by booking .com
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of showers and facilities available. So near to many amazing walks and a nearby pub. The meal portions are generous and inexpensive. There is no wifi but it is not really that sort of location!
The bunk beds are not that comfy for adults and the food was rather average.
Clean rooms and facilities Friendly staff Value for money meals and drinks
Location is prime here... Staff is also very friendly and efficient.
Hostel in need of repairs here and there, but charming nonetheless.
furniture and clean
Loved this hostel. Staff brilliant very helpful, Breakfast was fantastic value, clean, welcoming. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others x
Evening 3 course meal was excellent value. They also sell bottles of wine very reasonably priced. Superb location. Beds very comfortable with lovely clean bedding.
We liked the remoteness, tranquility and friendly feel of the area and hostel. We enjoyed not having wifi or telephone reception (although there was a payphone in the hostel) so we could enjoy board games in the lounge or hot chocolate in our rooms, talking about life and other stuff!
We weren't able to get cash out in the village so were a little worries when we found out the price of a bus ride into town (£12.50 for the three of us!) but luckily we scraped together our pennies and made the journey! Probably should have done a little more research to stop this from happening!
Good facilities. Great to have no wifi as then the place was populated by seriouswalkers. great big drying room an asset.
Remote, unspoilt, simple.
No separate tting rroom.
facilities and location were top notch. Staff were very helpful.
Needs a slightly bigger car park and cooler in rooms, it was boiling.
The location was fantastic Meals were good value and tasty.
First time ever in a Youth Hostel but was very impressed The staff were fantastic and the food excellent value. The setting was ideal as we were swimming Butteremere and great to have somewhere to dry the wetsuits
Good sized members kitchen and loung area.
Curfew at 11pm. 12 pm would be better, or a key code on the door.
Tiny room with a double bunk and a bathroom the size of a shoebox described as s twin ensuite room. Poor value for money.
Scenic quiet area of the lakes district. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hostel food was great. Large cooked breakfast if you wanted, packed lunches and good evening meals all reasonably priced. Good walking nearby. Also close to the small village of buttermere with pubs and cafe.
