The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of showers and facilities available. So near to many amazing walks and a nearby pub. The meal portions are generous and inexpensive. There is no wifi but it is not really that sort of location!

The bunk beds are not that comfy for adults and the food was rather average.

Location is prime here... Staff is also very friendly and efficient.

Hostel in need of repairs here and there, but charming nonetheless.

We liked the remoteness, tranquility and friendly feel of the area and hostel. We enjoyed not having wifi or telephone reception (although there was a payphone in the hostel) so we could enjoy board games in the lounge or hot chocolate in our rooms, talking about life and other stuff!

We weren't able to get cash out in the village so were a little worries when we found out the price of a bus ride into town (£12.50 for the three of us!) but luckily we scraped together our pennies and made the journey! Probably should have done a little more research to stop this from happening!

Good sized members kitchen and loung area.

Curfew at 11pm. 12 pm would be better, or a key code on the door.

Scenic quiet area of the lakes district. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hostel food was great. Large cooked breakfast if you wanted, packed lunches and good evening meals all reasonably priced. Good walking nearby. Also close to the small village of buttermere with pubs and cafe.

Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed. A total bargain for the price paid.

The middle class hippie guests letting their children run riot with no parental supervision (not the hostel's fault, I might add)

The location was perfect for exploring the local area and walking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great value for money meals as well as two pubs that do food as well as great beer.

Car parking was a bit difficult in part due to the lack of setting out. Parts of the inside are getting a bit worn and need maintenance. Lack of variety in the food menu.

Excellent eve meal, lovely pot of tea after 9 hours walking in foul weather. Warm, good drying room.

I want to know why you include bottled water in the packed lunch. People have their own water bottles and bladder systems etc and you can get water from the tap! I asked for something else to replace water and was told that an email from on high said that no replacement could be made. What about a small carton of juice please. I resent having to be charged for water. It's a rip off and unnecessary. Luckily for you I left it on principle so that's a bit more profit you made. Also why don't youth hostels have more hooks in rooms to hang your stuff on? There were only 4 in 4 bunk room, one each! There's loads of wall space for more. Breakfast was from 7.30 but no cooked food was ready until 20 mins later and then only some stuff and we needed an early start. Not good.
