The staff were great, obviously used to catering for climbers and walkers, the Hostel could not be more conveniently placed for getting into the Buttermere Fells and the setting was absolutely stunning. I will be back. All good!

This is a well managed, friendly Youth Hostel more akin to a lower scale b&b than my previous expectation of a Youth Hostel. Particularly useful drying rooms - we got the weather tha we expected - on a November day in the UK! Good mix of clintele age groups during our visit It's been a long time since I slept in bunk beds - though this would not stop me from using the Hostel in the furture.

It was low cost I£15) it was clean. Members kitchen was good. It was quiet. Would have liked a tv. I stay at yh because its low price, I think the meals are too expensive, why can't you ofeer egg and chips or sausage and mash. For approx £3. if I could afford £11.95 for a meal I could afford to go b & B. other than than the cost I love yh. This applies to all yh. You dont sleep in a room with up to 11 strangers if you can afford otherwise. (Keep price as low as poss)

Fantastic welcoming staff on reception ( Wouter) , lots of info. Showers were hot and never had to queue ( despite hostel being full). Plenty of space in self catering kitchen. Great location! Doors close at 11pm - perhaps some might like to go out to pub and then can't get back in

Our whole experience at Buttermere YHA was a great one! We were warmly welcomed by helpful, friendly staff who continued to be extremely helpful & knowledgeable during our week end. The hostel food was great too. Breakfast was excellent & we were able to order packed lunches for our day hiking. Our room was clean & our beds comfortable. The shower & toilet facilities were clean & plentiful - never had to wait for a shower in the morning. The location of the hostel can only be described as stunning. We will definately be staying there again.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Lovely old building, clean, value for money. No queuing for loo or showers. We will return, loved it! A bit manic in the morning in the self catering kitchen, will purchase breakfast next time and packed lunch. Would have had evening meal there if they served till 8pm as the meals looked great. Would have loved a bath for my aching joints but understand this would be too expensive to provide ( I would have paid though ! )

The staff were excellent...really helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to sort things for us as the self service kitchen was out of action. Despite the weather being really bad they helped sort bikes and even did our washing up since we had no kitchen facilities! Result!! Would highly recommend. The drying room could have been warmer but just about coped to get our stuff sorted.
