The staff were professional, the food and facilities were very good. The location was beautiful with sheep grazing around the YHA Castleton Losehill Hall. Nothing, everything was ok!

Beautiful building and surroundings, friendly and efficient staff There was a problem with the booking. I booked a private room for 5 people but the e-mail from booking.com to the yha said it was a dorm booking (even though my confirmation e-mail clearly stated it was a room for 5 and we booked the whole room.) The communication procedures between booking.com and yha need improving. I was very disappointed that my friends and I did not have a room to ourselves

It's best advantage is the location coupled with plenty of space, particularly for children to play in. The staff are friendly and helpful and the self-catering kitchen looks good. The breakfast is also very good value for money.

It was a pleasure to stay at this former manor house. It was particularly interesting to live in the original part of the house, where it made one feel a little bit like in older days. The hostel has a big, well equipped kitchen and a nice small library. The location is very convenient – around 10min walk to Castleton, 25min to Hope and the surrounding park is beautiful. There are also special attractions for the kids in the park, which makes it a good destination for families. Unfortunately there were no hairdryers nor it was possible to borrow one at reception.

The communal kitchen was great The hostel was very clean The bathroom was functional and suitable for our trip. The bird of prey display was interesting and informative. Beer at reception was just what we needed after a long walk. A very family friendly hostel. We would love to visit again soon. More board games for adults such as scrabble and a book exchange would be good. The entrance driveway could be lit up discreetly with a few sola lights, I was scared walking back in the dark lol!! (my boyfriend was laughing at me ;-( )

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely surroundings - great for the kids to explore. Lovely building , beautifully decorated and clean Lighting the wood burning stove in the lounges would have added to the ambiance and made it feel more cosy especially as the weather has been so cold.

Good standard twin room and spacious communal facilities The room (B7) was too hot at night even though we turned the radiator off and opened the window. Presumably the heating was on as it was very cold outside, but it was still too hot inside!

The house is spectacular and well maintained. The bedrooms are well equipt and laid out. All staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely to have a comunial lounge and librairy The driveway needs light by the cattle grid at night, my friend fell into it which could of caused a severe injury, not everyone will have a touch.

The hostel had a welcoming feel and the facilities are to a good standard. The food was good and I attended the screening of a film, which worked well also. I was under the impression that the hostel was not full but the 6 bed room I was in was full to capacity with people arriving for the first time between 12 midnight and 1am, which was disruptive. I would have expected arrangements to have been made for late arrivals to go in spare rooms. Not a major problem but it was commented on by someone else in the room, so worthy of inluding here.

It has been re-furbished in good taste and high standard. The staff are well aquainted with the area and are eager to please Disgarded items abandoned at the rear. A skip or container would improve the areas care.
