Location - walking distance to Coniston. Friendly staff. Car park - not a lot of spaces to park.

Location is really nice place. The men shared room was really cold during the spring nights. There were few power connection points to recharge the batteries, mobiles, etc...

The location was perfect for walking the old man of Coniston. The building is lovely and big, clean rooms, toilets and showers. Really nice staff, great lounge and the food was the best huge portions. Once heating kicked in our room became toaster. The building is huge and it felt cold. We couldn't relax in the lounge as we found ourselves and other guests huddling around a small electric fan fire. The same in the dining room cold which meant you couldn't totally relax and had to sit with a jacket on.

The location, everything was good except for the booking rules and policy. The rooms are filled with bunk beds, not much space to roam around in the 4 people room. I had booked two 4-bedroom rooms, when I got there they gave me one room for 8 people and another for 4 people. We were a group of 6, when I asked them if they would cancel the 4 people room and just give us the 8 people one, as the payment was still not taken, they didnt entertain the idea and charged s for the two rooms.

It was cosy and beautifully located. It was very self-sufficient and totally value for money. The breakfast was also excellent and the rooms and showering rooms were very clean. Nothing.. Everything was close to perfect. Ideal place for budget- travellers.

it was very convenient for the coniston marathon challenge. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The toilets were clean. However the self-catering kitchen was basic but adequate, but the floor was dirty. InThe TV lounge the smell of damp was very strong. I did not open the door to get freash air in because I thought it might set an alarm off. I do realise that it is a large old building and upkeep will be large. I would use Holly How again.

Courteous and helpful staff particularly Kirsty who left an answerphone message telling me I had left my asthma inhaler behind, but by the time we returned home a few days later I had obtained an emergency prescripton for a replacement. Totally my fault. Facilities were of a good standard. The drying room was under heated and overcrowded. The day of my arrival had been particularly wet all day and I think most people had almost drowned.

Friendly staff, clean facilities and rooms, excellent location. I had a great stay. A little pricier than the other YHAs in the Lake District, but still excellent value.
