Good location. Clean, well organized.
The room/building had not much caracter.
Very friendly. Great room. Great breakfast. Brilliant value for money. Goo bed.
Shower, heating. Meals. Self cooking facilities excellent.
Cost of room, more like a cupboard, not enough room for two with luggage.Like being in revolving doors.Toilet.paper behind ,hard to reach. Cycle shed quite small,as usual ,.space taken up with non cycling clutter.
It's a lovely building in a beautiful location. Very clean room, very comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. Helpful staff. Near enough to village to be able to walk down to the local pub and museum.
I was not in an en suite room. There was a hand basin which was helpful but I didn't like having to go across the corridor to the toilet. It didn't put me off visiting Eyam again though!
Lovely welcome, friendly staff, interesting setting. Good instructions and help. Breakfast well cooked. Room warm. Not too many rules
Lovely location and friendly and helpful staff.
Unfortunately I had a very uncomfortable mattress which didn't suit my back!
It was clean and warm.
Noisy and rooms were better value at local pub.
lots of noises school girls banging on doors and running round screaming. Beds rock hard.
We stayed at YHA Eyam as we were doing a 30 mile trek starting from Hope Valley. Hostel had all you'd expect for the money, decent breakfast, nice staff. Thanks!
We checked in around 3/4 - 1/2 hr before food/bar closed. We were given a relatively abrupt check in and when asked when food stopped were told "as soon as you lot have ordered".
The setting was lovely and close to Chatsworth House, which is what we had come to see.
Dragging our luggage up and down the drive from the car park was more exercise than I had bargained on. Would it be possible to have a drop off park up by the house?
fantastic location, clean, warm and well managed :o)
generator outside my bedroom window that kicked in about 7am. Not even my earplugs could dilute the sound :o(
The location was beautiful, the rooms and facilities very clean. We had breakfast in the morning and were served by a really friendly woman. We have already talked about coming back
Value for money Breakfast Location
Noisy at night Inadequate light to read by in the lounge
It really put a new perspective on youth hostelling it wasn't like I would have imagined. We were so impressed with everything we joined there and then with the help of Karen one of the staff, then we continued to stay in three other hostels during the week and thoroughly enjoyed it, not bad for two oldies, one fifty plus and one sixty plus, thankyou!!!
Double room bit small, but clean and ok for comfortable sleeping Kitchen area well equipped
No stock of basics in kitchen, e.g. salt, oil, ketchup etc., usually left by other guests.
Relaxed atmosphere, location and food.
Could do with redecoration especially in shower room (we had en suite). Noise from communal toilets when people banged doors in corridor during night.
Value for money and accommodation
Helpful, cheerful and efficient staff. Interesting location -building and village history.
Our room window was draughty!
friendly helpful staff who were flexible about check in times. Beautiful location. The best shower I've ever had in a youth hostel ( in the coach house)
wooden bunks are creakier and noisier than metal ones! expeller fan in toilet not working effectively. The weather!! but cant really criticize the YHA for that !
The fact that YHA membership was not taken in to consideration.
Good location Great view Inexpensive
Just a bit tired and unloved Take a second pillow to ensure a better night's sleep!
Not much. The guests were great however.
Reception not open when stated. Bar not open when stated. Note on bedroom door requesting us to visit reception to be told off...grrrrr because we hadn't registered but only because there was no-one there! System is to leave keys out for bookings so you can get in when reception closed, which we were pleased with until the telling off!! Bring your own refreshments to sit outside and enjoy the views as bar not open when you may expect. Games room with one trashed vending machine and one inoperable machine. Feeling of abandoned and down at heel area. Quite depressing. Shower disassembling as you use it. Bunk beds creak to the extent that you hear everyone in the coach house turning over in bed. Dust and grot (as I cleaned it didn't want to look to carefully) in over bed lamps YUK! If you book through booking.com and don't enter your YHA membership number there is no way you can get the membership discount as their system doesn't allow. Additionally if you go through booking.com you have to pay on arrival which if they're not there is tricky.... and you get told off for not doing it even though you can't because their reception isn't open..... doh! They do not like booking.com.... even thought their website would not take bookings and booking.com did....
Good staff; excellent breakfast
Common room; cold water supply and windows in dorms.
friendly welcome, lovely spot!
paper thin walls and disturbance from next door!
twin room with bunk beds low ceiling meant you hit your head very easily, unhelpful women on front desk.Small portions on 3 course meal.I stayed at Hartington Hall hostel in November far nicer !!
