Members kitchen in a separate building down steep steps, an unpleasant walk in the rain after drying off from a full day on the fells.

been to Grasmere many times, 1st time staying in hostel, will stay there each time I go back now. Clean & cheap, so close to the village, wild deer in the fields.

We travelled with a small child and were made to feel very welcome, with the travel cot set up for us on arrival. The hostel is a lovely old building in a stunning setting and a two-minute walk from the nice shops and cafes in the village. We booked dinner at short notice and were very pleased with the quality and price of the food. I can't fault anything!

The price was excellent but I did have a special deal. There are plenty of toilets and showers although the two showers nearest to my room were out of order.

The heating was controlled from reception so I had to go down to ask for it to be turned on then back again when it was too warm...a bit annoying.

Clean, friendlyand spacious, great on-site restaurant offering very good value food and drink, lots of living space for both families, quiet reading time or tv watchers.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food on offer was very good, and though we slept in bunk beds, they were not in the least bit rickety and I slept well.

I can't complain about anything.

Grasmere YHA is situated in a fine Victorian mansion, in wonderful grounds, at the centre of the Lake District. The staff are extremely friendly and worked hard to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable - toilets and showers are well appointed. The food is excellent - with a good range of interesting evening meals at reasonable prices. Great facilities including a very interesting library of books. Give it a try!

The mansion house itself and the brilliant location. No problems with the facilities, it had everything we needed. Very warm and quiet. And the price was ok.

Breakfast could be served until 10am maybe - getting up and ready before 9 is a little harsh, when you're off work and have maybe been up late the night before.

Simple and neat atmosphere with decent facilities and a perfect hostel environment. Excellent place and I would like to go back again if there is another option.

We loved the location of the yha its convenient for walking. As with most yha they are big houses and can be cold we have learnt to take a small heater with us for the room. Meals and packed lunches were great. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to talk to us about local walks. The yha is what it is clean comfortable rooms with excellent drying room facilities clean toilets and showers. Only down side lack of heating in the lounge and dining area didn't make we want to throw off my walking boots and chill out in the lounge but this is the only negative point I have.

The staff were extremely helpful and it was a lovely warm hostel, we would go again!
