lovely original building
The location is lovely and the building is quite nice too.
Friendly and helpful staff. Warm and comfortable ambiance. Excellent value with meals.
Character of the building .The fires. the proximity to delightful village and walks. We stayed in the big room in the eaves and it was really exciting for my 6 year old grandson. Such amazing value for money. Very friendly and helpful staff.
I'm being picky here but the bolted down seats in the sc kitchen are a bit of a pain. It's OK for the ones in the middle of the room but the ones next to the wall make it awkward to get in and out. Also the hostel is so popular that the Sc kitchen is a bit small when it' s busy but I don't know if you are able to do something about that.
Beautiful location Excellent atmosphere in the evening Great staff Roaring fires
The mattress looked a little dodgy The walk from the car carrying heavy bags Lack of parking
trekking and good breakfast
Lovely atmosphere, cosy fire, easy walk to pub and coffee shop in village, all round great value for money.
clean and friendly good location, good staff
The character of the architecture and gardens and the location.
staff were friendly, excellent value, warm, food was generous and well cooked I would unreservedly recommend this YHA, particually if you are travelling with children eg giant jenga, pool,
The hostel is ideally located for the village well run by very friendly staff. The rooms were just right as we stayed in the barn annexed which were all four berth with an suite. The food was good both breakfast and evening meal
The self catering kitchen is rather small for the number of people
Pretty much everything, very atmospheric due to heritage building, amazing location
Fantastic buildings with original features, very friendly staff !!
Friendly staff. Good food. Cosy. Great location.
Cooked breakfast was excellent but would have liked the option of having porridge and toast and paying less. Smokers standing chatting outside the front door at night (below my bedroom window ).
Fabulous location Reasonable cost Bike storage Hot clean showers Ample parking Polite staff
Unable to use membership discount at time of payment
Very friendly staff, buildings and grounds are beautiful, room was very spacious and beds were comfortable, kitchen was very clean and easy to find any utensils we needed
Struggled to get phone signal for my sat nav, we arrived after 5 so the nearest shop was miles away, however they have a resenably priced restaurant. No alchohol was allowed on the premises unless bought at the bar. Only get wifi in communal areas downstairs
Friendly staff welcomed me and I was able to upgrade to a single room with en-suite. I chose to eat the dinner in the restaurant, home cooked food. Excellent value. There was a store for my bike too.
The staff were very pleasant, and very efficient. Anything we asked for whether it was information. Or a spare pillow, it was done quickly. The Hall is in a beautiful village, and is a fantastic property to stay in, made even more enjoyable by the staff.
The friendliness, the beautiful surroundings, the breakfast, though we did cook in the guest kitchen the night before. Thank you
My friends room (1 adult 2 children) had inadequate mattresses for them to sleep on (room 13 in main house) On the other hand ours (room 24 barn) were .
clean tidy comfy beds
Loved the friendly staff and the truly wonderful building.
Not keen on putting my own bed linen on my bedding but at least I knew it was all clean!
Staff friendliness which rubbed off on everybody else being happy. Hostel full of character.
Would have liked 2 pillows but am sure that staff would have obliged had I asked.
Food - we arrived 7.45pm as a family of four and were able to sit down for a home cooked evening meal at 8pm which was lovely. Nice to relax after a long day at Alton towers. The staff were very friendly. We woke to amazing views of the Peak District and no traffic noise.
Having to make our own beds and strip them again the next day.
Beautiful setting. Helpful friendly staff. Bedrooms basic but comfortable. A good experience for our first youth hostel
Restaurant was cheap but food was adequate and no more. Curry night portions were very stingy, but staff friendly and helpful
Starting to use my membership and introducing a friend. Very good area to walk in. Very pleasant grounds.
A very low beam in our room - no warning on it . . . . I had v nasty bang on my head, reported it . . . . Wrote to you about it 2 weeks ago and have had no acknowledgement! Was this followed up?
