Around 14 miles north of Skipton, The King’s Head provides high-quality accommodation and dining in the Yorkshire Dales village of Kettlewell.
Score from 36 reviews Fabulous
Beautiful view of the valley.
The curry dinner was nothing to write home about. Good breakfast though.
The people, the place, the beautiful scenery and surroundings
Hardraw Force was quite a let down to be honest. The approach...via a pub and £2.50....smacks of commercialism...don't get me wrong, i am all for saving our heritage...I am a member of the National Trust...but this force of Nature...just didn't cut it for me...it was way too 'give me your money' type scenario and far too touristy.
Brilliant location Well organised Beautiful views from the lounge windows
where it was. good facilities
it was all fine
Appealing helpulness. Forgot the plug adapter, they found one around for me. Clean and tidy.
friendly,helpful staff. relaxed atmosphere.
I thought the staff were friendly and the self catering kitchen was fine. It was good for our group to be able to feel at home in that space.
The room was small and sad, the bunk bed cramped and old. The room needed some love and care and probably a bit of money spent on it. I thought it was overpriced, two men having to spend three nights in such a small drab space. I think it's a pity the YHA are not investing more when private hostels and bunk houses are offering better quality and pricing. The cooked breakfast was a disappointment, the produce so obviously cheap and unhealthy. Why not put sound damping on the doors, it was a pain trying to go to sleep hearing all the doors on the corridor banging shut, like being in an asylum. The whole place seems stuck in the 1970s, forlorn and tired and so was I when I left and had to drive the 300 miles home.
We loved the location and the views, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were very good value, and tasty.
We managed with the bunk beds but would have preferred 2single beds.
Nice staff, good breakfast, clean rooms
Noise levels during night (paper-thin wall, loud pipe noise, heavy slamming doors), small room and narrow/short beds, having to make/unmake beds and share institutional-style bathroom (ie for money paid - £52 via booking.com)
the laid back staff and the freedom to come and go made it such a pleasant stay.
Nothing comes to mind
Good room and views, friendly staff
Drying facilities Great breakfast
Waiting until 5pm to book in.
The walm welcome and breakfast!
The fact I thought I had paid when I hadn't.
The location is superb - in a lovely little village with lots to do and see.
Rooms are a little cramped. If all beds would have been occupied, we'd have been tripping over each other's belongings.
The Pillows were very hard & uncomfortable.
This Youth Hostel was in a brilliant location. The view from our room was beautiful, even though it was raining! The room was comfortable enough and it was clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good value for money.
The car park was small and already full when we got there. Luckily we found a spot in a car park not too far away. It would also be handy to have plug sockets at top bunk level so that you don't have to disturb the person below you if you want to charge your phone.
Excellent views, ensuite and power outlets in our double room, terriffic view from the room and good views elsewhere.
Very little; we loved this place! Excellent value at £42 for two people. However, if the staff are reading... The kitchen had tiny glasses for drinking, only one (small) toaster, and no tin opener was visible.
Staff very friendly hot water/warm room after cold wet day snacks and drinks available as alternative to going out location drying room safe cycle store
shoes didn't dry in drying room suggest fit hooks to walls of cycle store to ease congestion
The YHA in Hawes is exceptional and so many friendly people stayed at the same time as myself and sisters. The area is stunning and it a great place to stay if you walking the Pennine Way. My sisters and I use the YHA whenever we are able and will continue to do so. Thank you, your GREAT!
Everything was just fine and comfortable. Would have preferred an en suite room, but am aware that these aren't always avail in every YHA. The bathroom facilities were very close by in any case.
Good location, friendly staff.
Starting to be a little 'worn'
Friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfasts. First class situated for walking and cycling. Good hot water and shower.
Facilities getting slightly dated. Toilets left in poor state by users overnight. (Not a staff problem they are cleaned well) 2nd floor wash and toilet area require updating.
very helpful staff; very clean; quiet and friendly, lovely location in countryside
Good breakfast - Easy Access from Town - Far enough away not to be affected by noise in Town
The doors of the rooms were noisy to open and close at night
Meeting people with similar pastimes as myself
