Location was spot on. Short drive to Horton to do the 3 peaks challenge. Ideal for pie & a pint afterwards . Friendly helpfull staff. Definitely some where I would consider staying again. Especially of you're on a tight budget. Being over 6ft tall. The beds were a tad 'restrictive'. Parking at the hostel was very limited. Whilst only a short walk to the nearest car park, in bad weather, could be a pain!

the view and location Booking.com says that parking has to be reserved so I emailed YHA no reply so I phoned to be told that you cannot reserve parking, I was told that if anyone was about you can book in before 5pm but the lady that was there was quite rude and abrupt and said no come back later. I booked a twin en suite room and was given a room with bunk beds and no bathroom. It was changed to a room with bunks and bathroom not what booking.com advertised. I ordered and paid for breakfast and they mixed it up so we had to wait for it to be cooked. A complete cockup from start to finish some due to booking.com and some due to YHA staff

Hawes is a delightfully picturesque little market village in the North Yorkshire dales. We fell in love with the stone cottages and walls, the pubs and the surrounding farmland with the black faced sheep. The YHA provided basic accommodation and meals at a very reasonable price.

Location to the dales The room was dirty, run-down and the shower was un-hygeinic. For the £60 that it cost, I could have got a hotel with a T.v, coffee/tea making facilities and a modern room.

Not having stayed in a YHA for about 40 years I wasn't sure what to expect. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and relaxed, all that I hoped for and needed,. The Youth Hostel has a lovely situation on the edge of the village looking across the Dale. Hawes itself is a very interesting village to explore. I certainly hope to return before too long.

The view from some dining tables was tremendous, the moores hills lovely. Remember it's a backpackers, the most ordinary kind, the ensuite, yuk, the beds basic. We paid £50 for a twin mid week, went for a walk in town and saw a B&b for £60!

- the drying room was 'the best' it mattered because we were very wet (had cycled from Tanhill) everything was dry the following morning. - great cooked meal - excellent breakfast - had not stayed in a youth hostel for many years so was quite impressed! - poor facilities for hanging clothing/towel while having a shower

The accomodation very good for the price paid, good warm and clean facilities, clean and comfortable bed, good hot showers, friendly and helpful staff, choice of good self catering kitchen or cooked breakfast and evening meals. A small bar with choice of wines and beers. Location very good for access to the town, and for countryside leisure pursuits. If booking ahead, small rooms available, otherwise small dormitory rooms, if you are prepared to share. I don't usually use YHA, but did so for a cheap weekend away, and would do so again in future. Thankyou. Large group of children staying on the Saturday night, abit noisy, but otherwise well behaved and well supervised by the adults with them. Bunk beds, but comfortable otherwise.

En-suite room The hostel is in need of refurbishment, decorating, new door closures. Noise from other hostellers who continued to talk loudly in the corridors and slam doors very late at night e.g. after midnight. This is not the hostel staffs fault - these days good manners seem to have gone by the by
