The views and fresh air, the breakfast was excellent.
The path from the village to the Youth hostel was tough going in the dark. Take a good torch.
Had no electricity in morning No water to bath or even brush.
Quality of sleep
No socks in rooms No wifi No network services for 3 and O2. Expensive meals. No good views, as it's between two mountains
Price Food Spacious bedrooms Hot showers Good music
No WiFi Looked a bit 'tired'
The staff were friendly, dedicated, approachable, not intrusive. Shower facilities clean and very decent shower. I liked the little nooks and crannies such as the reading corner. I liked the choice of either the self catering kitchen which is well equipped or buying a meal. The food was good. Very relaxed atmosphere and loved the 'remoteness' of the location
No socket in room No Wi Fi but this could be seen as an advantage too!
Staff were excellent
I got a bit of tummy upset after the dinner o

Access road to the hostel needs getting used to!
Definitely recommend this hostel to budget travellers or hiking lovers. The hostel is on a mountain, which means you have to walk uphill for 30-40 minutes from the bus stop. If you do not travel light, you may suffer. Imagine dragging your suitcase on the cobbled path. But when you arrive, you can start fell walks from the doorsteps. It would be fine if you have a car. The receptionist was helpful and friendly, giving me good advice to explore the area and letting me into the room before earliest check-in since it was cleaned.
I went back to the hostel late and there was no light along the path. Mountains looked terrifying...This is not their fault, but you should take it into account if you plan a late return.
Breakfast was great but not free.
No wifi, no power points in rooms, quite a late check-in with no luggage storage for while you wait and it was quite far from the town, though the location may appeal to those who are only there to hike.
The Views and the History view of the place
Electical app none Verry little things on the Menu eating Fish and Chips every day
The rough track approch
Fantastic location for Helvellyn, good food, nice and clean.
Poor facilities re. Toilet shower no charging points no mobile signal
What a location - great - I even managed to hike to top of Helvellyn and was back for 10:00am - Food - great value for money - massesof good food for both dinner and breakfast. Beer - selection excellent. The best is the Staff - great advice, friendly, and went the extra mile
The drive up - a little rough for my car.
Beautiful location away from the crowds.Really felt like part of the landscape.
Other members of our group snoring! (can't have everything)
everything was fine and as expected. thank you to the staff
Good value, great location, and plenty of food onsite. Great breakfast for £5.
No plug sockets in the bedrooms, or in the ladies bathroom on the ground floor, so no charging electrical things, nor drying your hair. Very thin walls and noisy neighbours somewhat spoiled our nights sleep.
Road to hostel is terrible, really needs major repairs.
Self catering kitchen was poor, and not very clean.
Reception and dining room were excellent, staff were really helpful and location couldn't be any better really
The beds were not big enough at all for me but I'm 6' 8" and had to put mattress on floor
Friendly staff. Pleasant atmosphere.
The lack of power-points. There are no power-points in the rooms. You can only charge electrical items in public areas if you queue to use the sockets.
Good value. Easy access to a days walking.
No sockets in rooms. Dining room dirty. Breakfast slow and over cooked. Too hot - central heating on unnecessarily.
not enough loos
