The location of the hostel is super. Just a few minutes walk to the beautiful town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room for six people is neat and good size. It is indeed a room with a view. We can see the river by the side and hear the sound of the running river.

There was an uncomfy smell in our room. Most probably it was from the carpet. Room for chatting and hang around close too early. Residents who want to stay late and chat have nowhere to go inside the hostel.

Great location, basic accommodation but very clean and well kept

My only moan would be that the self catering kitchen wasn't open before 7am. As walkers leaving at 6.20 meant we had to make alternative arrangements for breakfast

Excellent location, clean rooms with very helpful staff. Reception staff had excellent customer service and knowledge of the local area.

The 6 person room was a little small for 6 plus all walking equipment. However I would still stay there again as this had minimum impact and for the price was still good value

    The Breakfast was great!

Being billed for cancelling my friends booking and having the money taken direct from my credit card. This is a booking.com issue

    The verandah on the riverside

Noisy door closures - slow self closing to start, then a sudden slam. It takes a long time to bother to stand by the door, which is self closing slowly, just to catch and stop that last slam which might wake people up! Perhaps that could be adjusted?

The food was excellent in the restaurant attached. The showers were good. Staff were helpful

Sleeping in bunk beds is not that easy when we are all over 60 but we managed and were so tired we slept well

The location was ideal. It's a lovely spot beside the river and park with a short walk to the town centre. The breakfast was great and the staff very helpfull.

Unfortunately the curtains were very thin so the room was very bright early in the morning. Very minor complaint!!

Great location right on a nice little river. Beautiful view up into the hills. Friendly, but unobtrusive staff.

Only one washing machine for the whole hostel. With so many people hiking, it was a bit of a traffic jam.

Good kitchen and lounge areas plus balcony overlooking the river.

Very noisy at weekends/bank holidays with groups on other floors and up/down stairwells. Didn't get good nights sleep due to noise coming from upstairs and next door room (thin walls).

    - Great location (right along the river). They have a park right opposite where you can walk around, play cricket or football - The Stagecoach bus station is a 2 minute walk and it is pretty close to the center of town. - Extremely friendly staff and visitors

    - You may want to consider booking directly from the YHA site as the rates typically vary between booking.com and their direct site. - Renting towels is expensive (£2) and they do not have free wi-fi for non-members

We were a group of 4 aged between 28 and 66 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The atmosphere, accommodation, staff, food and location were all excellent and we would definitely stay again.
