Everything! The location was stunningly beautiful; the hostel a gem; the staff friendly, helpful & caring. I loved being just below the Lizard Lighthouse & watching it's light sweep the sea every night.
All YHA shower cubicles need to be better ventilated; bath mats would be handy to help dry feet!
Staff member Lyn was incredibly helpful to ensure all was as easy as possible
Amazing location, great price, lovely staff and get to meet some lovely people too!
Only downside was the people who I had to share a room with, who snored louder than a pair of elephants!
A location you can't beat. Everything one would expect from a hostel, with staff that were helpful and knowledgable about the area. Thank you for letting us leave our car there during the day after we had checked out.
Only slight minus point was the security/exit light above the door to the room which meant the room wasn't pitch dark and I found it kept me awake for some of the night.
Fantastic location, really good facility,
Only negative water didn't drain well in shower and would flood dressing area.
Location. Personnel very friendly and helpful. Very clean.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean and tidy. Suited our needs!
We were on the Lizard for a family wedding. For our family group we had two 3 bed en-suite rooms for about a quarter of the price of a local hotel. Very friendly staff, wonderful views, excellent price, very good café food nearby, pubs in Lizard within walking distance did good food too and the coastal path was amazing.
mattresses a bit soft and lumpy .... but we still slept OK
Amazing view at the tip of Lizard Point Large fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook or eat anything or just have a tea Entertainment - games and books available for night and family activities
Washrooms are shared, but was also expected in a hostel and within price range Suggest requesting a room facing the water if possible
Just take a look up at the night sky and forget about light pollution. Our kids had never seen anything like it before! Very friendly staff
some of the cleaniliness of the toilets left a bit to be desired.
Me and my two children had a brilliant time, thank you so much! Location, accommodation and staff were perfect, there was nothing we did not like or enjoy.
I really liked The Lizard. It's a beutiful place near a magic lighthouse near fields, cliffs and beach of stones.
spectacular sea view right out of the window
Amazing place with great views! Staff was really welcoming. We can'r wait to go back!
I had never thought of using a YHA before, but used it this to time as I could not find anywhere else in the area we wanted and I was surprised at what we found. Sea view, minutes walk to beach, picture post card views, working lighthouse next door, large bedroom and bathroom bigger than my sons single bedroom at home, very clean and helpful volunteer staff. When we go away for a short break again we will be looking at yha again.
Being a bunkbed (single over double), there was a ladder at the end and room length wise was a bit limited; but this is most likely just me and would not stop me giving the room 10 out of 10 as plenty of room on floor to sleep.
After a stressful period of exams and assignments, we wanted to spend a week somewhere close to nature, and we couldn't have made a better choice than YHA Lizard. Perched on top of a cliff and by a lighthouse, this hostel is conveniently located whether you want to go hiking, walk to the beach or take a bus to other Cornish towns. The views from the garden and our room were simply breathtaking; waking up to the sight of rabbits playing in the garden, and the blue sea further ahead, is something we won't forget anytime soon (we had the triple room on the ground floor, just by the reception). The cleanliness was second to none, and the volunteers running the hostel treated us like friends rather than guests. The kitchen is big, and has all the facilities you would expect for a self-catering accommodation. The massive lounge area is slightly underused, but with so much open space and outdoor seating, this is not entirely surprising. All in all, we had an incredible time here, and cannot wait to go back. I have already recommended this place to some of my friends, and one of them has already booked her holiday here.
Beautiful location and views. Wonderful, helpful staff who were volunteers - respect!
Staff very friendly lots of space in the kitchen and nice and clean
Wonderful location.Fantastic value for moneyA very special experience.Went to The most southerly cafe for supper.Last orders 18.30,Amazing white bait
It's a brilliant place to stay . have stayed there before , and recommended it to many.Proximity to the coastal path is excellent for people like us who were on a walking holiday ( from Penzance to Falmouth) Brilliant view Nice friendly staff (Voluntary wardens) Great cafe nearby on the point . (Polpeor cafe) Well equipped kitchen. Nice dining area and sitting room if weather had been bad. Great to have a garden area to sit in in nice weather. Liked fact that there was no TV !
You have to walk into the village to get milk etc Not being able to fully open the bedroom window , room 1 , on a very hot night, although we appreciate the safety reason for this. Noise of fans in showers next to us , although nobody showered very late , or very early next morning.
Lovely atmosphere: great views, pleasant gardens, outdoor eating, comfortable dining rooms and lounge, very well appointed kitchen, comfy beds, clean showers/toilets, every convenience. Staff helpful, considerate, good humoured and funny.
The walk from the village with a heavy case to wheel. Got a taxi on return . Five pounds. Otherwise a pleasant stroll to the village.
Beautiful clean room with an amazing view. Lovely garden with plenty of benches and picnic tables for our al fresco meals. Great self catering kitchen facilities. Really friendly wardens. We will be back again very soon!
Only minor gripe was having to wait until 5pm to check in, 3pm would have suited us better.
The staff member was hospitable and helpful. He made us feel so welcome and clearly loved the place where he worked. The site was so beautiful and cared for with breath-taking views of the water and shoreline.
We are from the states and, of course, found the driving in England a little breath-taking in its own way! Appreciated the calmness of the English drivers we met along the roads though.
A perfect place to spend a few nights and explore the country.
