I had never thought of using a YHA before, but used it this to time as I could not find anywhere else in the area we wanted and I was surprised at what we found. Sea view, minutes walk to beach, picture post card views, working lighthouse next door, large bedroom and bathroom bigger than my sons single bedroom at home, very clean and helpful volunteer staff. When we go away for a short break again we will be looking at yha again.

Being a bunkbed (single over double), there was a ladder at the end and room length wise was a bit limited; but this is most likely just me and would not stop me giving the room 10 out of 10 as plenty of room on floor to sleep.

After a stressful period of exams and assignments, we wanted to spend a week somewhere close to nature, and we couldn't have made a better choice than YHA Lizard. Perched on top of a cliff and by a lighthouse, this hostel is conveniently located whether you want to go hiking, walk to the beach or take a bus to other Cornish towns. The views from the garden and our room were simply breathtaking; waking up to the sight of rabbits playing in the garden, and the blue sea further ahead, is something we won't forget anytime soon (we had the triple room on the ground floor, just by the reception). The cleanliness was second to none, and the volunteers running the hostel treated us like friends rather than guests. The kitchen is big, and has all the facilities you would expect for a self-catering accommodation. The massive lounge area is slightly underused, but with so much open space and outdoor seating, this is not entirely surprising. All in all, we had an incredible time here, and cannot wait to go back. I have already recommended this place to some of my friends, and one of them has already booked her holiday here.

It's a brilliant place to stay . have stayed there before , and recommended it to many.Proximity to the coastal path is excellent for people like us who were on a walking holiday ( from Penzance to Falmouth) Brilliant view Nice friendly staff (Voluntary wardens) Great cafe nearby on the point . (Polpeor cafe) Well equipped kitchen. Nice dining area and sitting room if weather had been bad. Great to have a garden area to sit in in nice weather. Liked fact that there was no TV !

You have to walk into the village to get milk etc Not being able to fully open the bedroom window , room 1 , on a very hot night, although we appreciate the safety reason for this. Noise of fans in showers next to us , although nobody showered very late , or very early next morning.

Lovely atmosphere: great views, pleasant gardens, outdoor eating, comfortable dining rooms and lounge, very well appointed kitchen, comfy beds, clean showers/toilets, every convenience. Staff helpful, considerate, good humoured and funny.

The walk from the village with a heavy case to wheel. Got a taxi on return . Five pounds. Otherwise a pleasant stroll to the village.

Beautiful clean room with an amazing view. Lovely garden with plenty of benches and picnic tables for our al fresco meals. Great self catering kitchen facilities. Really friendly wardens. We will be back again very soon!

Only minor gripe was having to wait until 5pm to check in, 3pm would have suited us better.

The staff member was hospitable and helpful. He made us feel so welcome and clearly loved the place where he worked. The site was so beautiful and cared for with breath-taking views of the water and shoreline.

We are from the states and, of course, found the driving in England a little breath-taking in its own way! Appreciated the calmness of the English drivers we met along the roads though.
