Met interesting fellow travellers
Snorers, but can't blame YHA for that.
price staff are quite friendly
location is poor after park closed room is too noisy
Hope it does not close down
The location, right next to the beautiful Holland Park and bustling Kensington High Street, is superb. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nice, Tudor architecture.
The inconsiderate and noisy men who decided to keep entering and leaving the dormitory from 2am until 4.30am, switching the lights on and slamming the door every time! If you want a good night's sleep, don't stay in the dormitory!
location, greenery, staff
beds, lockers, toilets too far, noisy school groups
The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the place in general was very relaxed and accommodating for a youth hostel. The location is very pretty and quiet too.
The shared rooms. I know this is what youth hostels are all about, but I couldn't handle the snoring of the other guests! So didn't have the best sleep overall.
All fine, wonderful hostel - one of the best I've stayed in for location, character, friendliness of staff.
I always find it a rather noisy hostel - doors bang too loudly in the rooms and people are always noisy in the evenings yet the staff seem to do little to nothing about it.
Clean sleeping conditions, bunks and shower areas all nice and clean and self catering kitchen. Staff were polite and pleasant. I like the feeling of security and privacy in female side, and I have found in YHA hostels the guests are quiet and considerate in the dorms.
Arriving at 22.00,was dark in Holland Park, i am lone female and walked lots before strangers helped me, and returning to locked gate we after time discovered intercom at gate for use to enter. I felt better signs or information would help
no free wifi~~
Nice to be in a park. Close to underground and a supermarket. Reasonable breakfast.
Bunks somewhat awkward to get in and out of.
for a few nights it is a good accommodation.
it was a bit difficult to get to the hostel especially when it is dark and you are alone.
location is nice if you just want to walk and enjoy surrounding. However it is near the tube it might be not easy to find a way at the night. Hostel is clean and staff is helpful!
Holland Park area of London is wonderful, near to Kensington Palace, V & A Museum, Hyde Park etc.
I understand they are losing their lease, they have been here since 1955 but are closing this location at the end of 2014. Too bad, great location!
Staff were friendly, bedding was actual bedding and felt fresh and clean.
Dangerous to walk on your own after dark as it's somewhat inside a park, consecutively rather hard to find. The room had 12 beds, three piled on top of each other, with no ladders to get onto the top bunks, so you had to step onto neighbour's shelves. No curtains on beds and incredibly big and bright reading lights, making it very hard to sleep one people had them on (which was all the time). Two sockets for 12 people in the room. The sinks in the rooms and in the bathroom had such ridiculous nozzles that you got splashed all over the place after barely turning the tap on. There were two toilets on the floor for 24 people. It took at least five minutes for the water to warm up in the showers - what a waste of water! No free wifi and the internet you could buy way too expensive (1 pound for 20 minutes with no ability to save your unused minutes for a later time if you've gone over 10 minutes), filthy computer keyboards. In conclusion, while the price was acceptable, I would not stay here again given the chance and would not recommend it.
The breakfast The rooms are spacious
Some of the lockers are defective A bit dangerous to go back at night
The view from the room
There was only one plug socket in the entire room, the beds were small, shower was very small and there was two toilets that we're cramped
Great youth hostel, lovely old buildings in a pretty park. Quiet location, but close to the tube stations. Very comfortable beds and clean bathrooms.
Showers not very powerful.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room and the shower/toilets were clean, and being able to use a well-equiped self-service kitchen was an absolute gift!! Thank you for a very comfortable stay!
The location is central and close to the underground, yet for me it proved a little tricky to find the place: I arrived late in the evening, and walking through the deserted park with no sings for the hostel except at the very beginning of the path and at the gate itself felt rather uncomfortable.
Nice in the gardens
Basin tap faucets sprayed on your clothes when you washed your hands
Super friendly staff
Bed Sheets were clean, toilets and showers were fine for a hostel, location is close to hyde park.
I arrived hostel late night and used road called "holland walk" and it is a little bit frightening because I was the only one on the road and if someone try to to something to me no one can help me and there is no side ways to quit the road. Day time it is easier to go to hostel, you can use the roads in holland park but at night this roads are closed and your only option is holland walk. In photos hostel looks like a histotrical place but my dorm is in a place which was built later as an extension and it is probably a prefabricated building. My room number is 5 and many old people stays in this room and it seems like these dudes use hostel as a home. I did not have problem with them except their snoring, it was really bad. Room was a little smelly but not unbearable. London is a very expensive city and 20 pound per night seems a good bargain if you reduce your expectations.
Building needs renovation
We are not lack of anything, you'get what you are looking for and really helpful ...Loved all the staff
To leave them
The position was great, Holland park is very beautiful. The hostel is near the Tube station and if you like walking you can reach a lot of places on foot. The bed was comfortable despite the poor organization.
The bed's organization is terrible, if you are not sleeping in the top bed you have the feeling of sleeping in a coffin and there weren't step to access your bunker bed. I think the furniture dates back to the first WW. In the bedroom we were 12 and we have just two power sockets and that's crazy because we needed to charge the phone or use the hairdryer but it was difficult to find one power socket available. I also didn't like the women at the reception, they weren't friendly at all. Very bad welcome my first evening there. I think the position is ok but for the same price (or less!!!) you can find a lot of better hostels in London. I choosed that one because of the position, but next time I will look for a different one. I knew that the wifi and the breakfast were not included but I think I've paid too much for my stay if I consider that in other hostels they have at least the breakfast included for the same price. I also think that charging 7,90 pounds for 3 days wifi is crazy especially considering that you could not even use the computer in the room because there was no coverage!! Last but not the least I've found the toilet dirty one night and the morning before it was already in the same condition!!!
