- Proximity to the Cathedral, Pret a Manager and Starbucks is great.
- No free wifi. And once you pay a crazy amount of money and buy wifi for a few hours, it only works in the common room on the first floor. You can't even access it from your room. Also, the wifi code is good for two devices but they won't tell you that. - no free breakfast - beds are all boxes, with 3 beds stacked on top of each outer like a puzzle without a ladder. So good luck with that. - no outlets next to the beds. One outlet per room... - heaters don't turn off and are always turned on high/full blast (basically baking you alive) - staff is incredibly unhelpful and just don't care. Zero evidence of a passion for backpacking. Particularly the guy who works the night shift.
Location, staff, facilities, nearby services
No kitchen facilities, although I can understand why
I really enjoyed my stay at YHA St Paul's. The staff were pleasant, the hostel was clean & tidy. My bed was awesomely comfortable, the locker a good size. The location is brilliant..except for the bells ;)
The noisy hostellers, but I guess that goes, with the territory. I'm no longer an enamoured of the bells of St Paul's as I used to be ;) Not the hostels fault. Would be great if a microwave was available.
nice hall area excellent breakfast value for money is fair staff is friendly - suggested me to update from a shared room to a single room by paying only 14 pounds more and of course i agreed! (initially i rented a bed for 16 pounds) if you want to have a snack, there are lots of them at reception. there is a storage area, which you can access during the whole day if you need it by entering the code - ask receptionist.
St Paul's bells all night long.. didnt have enough sleep; stairs to the 4th floor - no elevators; unclean showers - suggesting to you to bring slippers; dont forget to bring a towel as well
The receptionist who received me, I bet his behaviour does not indicate he was a british as british are cool, Everything you should pay for Wifi and breakfast, and even cleaning your room, Sometimes water in shower is not warm,
Friendly staff, basic but good accommodation for the price. Close to transport, eating places and tourist attractions. In room with seven other visitors who were friendly and didn't keep me awake. all this for £18 a night - a bargain.
The beds were already made. 24 hour service. Luggage room.
Only one plug in the rooms. Bad air in the rooms -> too hot. No individual bed lights. Sqeaky and noisy doors, halls.
Most of the staff is friendly except one long hair lady very rude. I just ask why the rate I pay today very big different from yesterday. She said unfriendly that she want to cancel my booking???
The St Paul Church next to it, the bell is very noisy, where is very hard to get asleep.
location clean quiet breakfest (typically english) nice crew
Good location, showers, loos, space on room. Room quiet. Slept very well.
Poor entertainment for kids, nothing really. No self catering kitchen. Lounge poor layout so couldn't get to some of the books as table in the way. Staff ok but not customer focussed/trained in customer service. Bottled beer very expensive.
children really enjoyed the visit Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. breakfast is both large in volume and good value could walk to a lot of the the things we wanted to do
some of the loos were a bit ropey some of the decor was a little tired
great building and location
price could be more affordable
good location.new facilities
The location is excellent.
You have to pay for wi-fi. The staff wasn't very friendly.
the location is perfect
The noise of the St. Paul cathedral nearby with the bells ringing frequently especially at night
The location is probably the best thin ever. You are 2min from st pauls church and from millenium bridge. Is great.
Well the last night of our stay there was a mice in our room. Everything really is great but the mice problem is kinda gross. We found him in our grocery bag eating a donut. You should do somethin about it but apart from that hostel is really great!
Excellent location. Extremely friendly staff.
Extremely noisy the first night. Absolutely inconsiderate behaviour of guests in neighboring rooms. Sanitary installations and bedrooms really need to be refurbished urgently. It doesn't seem that this hostel has seen any substantial investment during the last 20 years.
It was for ease of travel to Victoria Coach Station the following morning that we stayed here and the No.11 bus goes directly there. Also I'm a YHA member.
Too hot during the night and having the window open meant we were then kept awake by St Paul's cathedral clock!
Friendly staff and buffet breakfast.
Horrible 3 level bunk beds without ladder. No reading lamps with no night bulbs in the room. Toilet window opened despite being basement room with no privacy. Very noisy, could hardly sleep through the night as big lorries were passing every few minutes with their engines running.
The location is great. Staff looked friendly and professional.
Since I asked for relatively less noisy root at check in. I was kindly offered a five bedded room rather than the usual six. Unfortunately the guy on the bed below me wouldn't settle on his bed for a single hour. Eventually early morning he started smoking inside the room!! He smoked two cigerates before I told him to stop it. At this stage it was difficult for me to remain in the room since I am asthmatic. I had a poor night sleep before an exam. I could've ended up in casualty. This was reported to front desk when checking out early morning.
It's a good choice for the travelers with heavy luggage. The location is near the Blackfriars station and St. Paul station, and you can take escalators at the former. Besides, after check out, you can keep your luggage at the hostel until 10:00 p.m. for free. Therefore, it's really convenient for the travelers with heavy luggage.
It seemed that there was no lift in this hostel. They are kind to offer me the room in ground floor as my request. However, the luggage room is in the basement, so I felt a little bit tired when I had to climb stairs with my heavy luggage.
Location couldn't have been better, lots more storage than usual in a hostel
Shower rooms could be better ventilated
Location was good, stone's throw from st paul's. Bed was clean, bathroom and toilets were clean too.
St Paul's bell
the best was location, it close to every important place. Excellent public transport.
the food is quite expensive
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Location within the City is excellent.
Bunk was awkward to climb in and out of - I am pretty fit but have a slightly stiff hip. No self catering facilities Relaxation area was limited in comfort
