The hostel felt safe for the children - aged 3 to 16 - who loved running about in the grounds playing hide and seek with their new friends. The games room was good too, yet there was space int he lobby for adults who wanted to get away from children and watch more grownup television. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which encouraged the adults to make new friends too. And because the children were happy we could relax ( I was visiting with my daughter andf grandchildren).
Where were the bats ? I had visited before and was inspired by the loan of a bat detector to buy my own and join the local (West Yorkshire) bat group. But this time we didn't see any.
Clean, excellent location - value for money!!
Reception staff very helpful. Two pubs in walking distance for dinner
Location for Walking, Breakfasts were excellent. Staff were friendly and well organised
Weather Last Weekend:)
Central location: different options for choice of eating: could book in easily: buy milk: lots of hot water: no hassle: not too many notices of rules and regs Malham Cove and Tarn are fantastically gorgeous places I've always wanted to walk to - if you're not camping this is the best base to start from
very little - just others' smelly boots in porch - but hey, this is the Pennine Way
Staff were friendly, was comfortable and clean and also cheap.
Excellent location, parking and self-catering kitchen. Like being able to eat outside morning and evening at picnic tables if we wanted to.
Too many spiders dropping their poo on to the tables and window sills in kitchen. Not scared of spiders at all, its just not very hygienic
convenient to workplace
great hostel in a lovely little village surrounded by fantastic walks/views/pubs/food... would definitely stay again
the price of breakfast!
Location is superb, staff very friendly and helpful.
Stayed in one of the triple rooms, the smell from the sewage pipe ventilation (located INSIDE the bathroom) was disgusting, especially after the fan had been operating for a while. Also, the shower room floor was really dirty
Beautiful, picturesque location. Clean, good facilities, helpful staff, excellent breakfast
Car park is small and gravel - not good for motorbikes. Restaurant was fully booked with an outside party so guests staying at the hostel couldn't eat there.
Parking can be difficult.
Bunkroom cramped and rather stuffy.
Very friendly staff. Helpful and they went the extra mile to prepare us breakfast and lunch as we were leaving early the next day.
Internet is charged if you're not a YHA member. But the nearly pub has free wifi.
good facilities and excellent staff
Great location. Clean. Friendly staff.
Meal was wonderful. Staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Kitchen facilities were excellent. Showers and toilets very clean.
Door close mechanisms particularly on kitchen was noisy and our room was next to the kitchen and the noise of the taps was very loud enough to wake us up.
Accessible, clean, friendly
Food, packed breakfast was very poor value for money. Was going to stay for breakfast next morning but very negative feedback from others staying in our dorm. Such a shame with all that beautiful Yorkshire food.
Stayed two nights when i went to do the yorkshire 3 peaks challenge .it was in a beautiful village . Clean and friendly .i would recommend to anyone .
Everything was good. The location was perfect and really idyllic and the personnel was always ready to help.
It was hard to grasp how to work the showers so the water was ice cold.
Meals being available but also self catering facilities.
Drying room useless
It would be great if both sex dorms could be introduced to YHA hostels as I think now most groups of friends would prefer to be in the same room rather than separate and it meant we were woken up very early by another group at 6am.
