The best hostel ever!
Easy check in and check out :)
Forgot to book breakfast the night before so we wern't allowd to eat at breakfast time :(
Very pretty village, and hostel was quiet, had a great night's sleep.
Booked a private room for two expecing a double bed, or at least twin beds, but got bunk beds.
High standards of cleanliness and pleasant set up. Bright decor. Comfortable mattresses on the bunk beds. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful surroundings. We were able to take advantage of a special price offer and stayed an extra night!
In the four- bunk room there wasn't room for a toilet,(although there was a wash basin) There was a shower room nearby in the corridor and a loo a bit further away down the corridor.
Price and staff were nice.
Breakfast was dreadful. Small and very cheap.
Staff friendly and helpful Clean facilities Excellent dinner and breakfast
Room a bit small - we had a quadruple room (2 sets of bunk beds) sharing with two teenagers, okay for one night stay.
YHA in general
Booking . com is rubbish, after making the booking, and receiving booking confirmed on the screen, I later when I checked with the actual hostel, the said no booking in my name existed and booking was not valid. Even booking.com seem to think I was booked there, and I get reminders to review my stay there! So - YHA is great, booking.com is rubbish. Sorry I am annoyed my booking went astray, and I had to pay extra to stay elsewhere at short notice. Good job I checked with YHA, if only I'd booked direct. Booking.com is so detached from the actual place you want, they have no idea what they are actually booking, and get no feedback to confirm the place exists.
Everything was clean and tidy, including the communal kitchen. The power showers were very welcome after a long day walking. Cool and good beer available at reception.
When folk on the floor above exited their bunk beds you could hear them climbing in and out. It was quiet when I was there, but in the busy season or at weekends it might be annoying.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, very helpful. We needed to leave really early and there were no hassles at all. Would stay again.
Location, right in the heart of the village; Helpful staff and nice welcome on a wet windy night
Facilities, staff, location all fantastic. Food great value for money and tasty.
No hot water in room (15). Very noisy water flowing through pipes when taps were turned on in neighbouring rooms (up, and next to). Fire exit in room 15 was manually locked (by top white plastic lock) - reported to staff but nothing was done about it.
The hostel felt safe for the children - aged 3 to 16 - who loved running about in the grounds playing hide and seek with their new friends. The games room was good too, yet there was space int he lobby for adults who wanted to get away from children and watch more grownup television. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which encouraged the adults to make new friends too. And because the children were happy we could relax ( I was visiting with my daughter andf grandchildren).
Where were the bats ? I had visited before and was inspired by the loan of a bat detector to buy my own and join the local (West Yorkshire) bat group. But this time we didn't see any.
Clean, excellent location - value for money!!
Reception staff very helpful. Two pubs in walking distance for dinner
Location for Walking, Breakfasts were excellent. Staff were friendly and well organised
Weather Last Weekend:)
Central location: different options for choice of eating: could book in easily: buy milk: lots of hot water: no hassle: not too many notices of rules and regs Malham Cove and Tarn are fantastically gorgeous places I've always wanted to walk to - if you're not camping this is the best base to start from
very little - just others' smelly boots in porch - but hey, this is the Pennine Way
Staff were friendly, was comfortable and clean and also cheap.
Excellent location, parking and self-catering kitchen. Like being able to eat outside morning and evening at picnic tables if we wanted to.
Too many spiders dropping their poo on to the tables and window sills in kitchen. Not scared of spiders at all, its just not very hygienic
convenient to workplace
