Great character about the hostel and very hospitable Manager she was very kind to us. Eco friendly and the location right on the beach.
booked a double bed and got two single bunks. Having to park outside of gates and drag bags to the hostel. 5 pm check in.
beautiful and calm
its always hard to sleep with 7 strangers in a room but ear plugs did the trick
We had another mum for the evening, Dianne is extremely kind and helpful. She knows the area well and looks out for her customers with lots of tips and hints. Great value for money, beautiful views, very clean and tidy and lovely comfy beds! Will definitely be back!
Location Good facilities for self catering
Location Kitchen Facilities Staff
Thin Walls, Noisy Water tank and toilet flush Guy who snored next door Uncomfortable mattress
that was the first time i stayed in a hostel alone. The female dorm has an excellent view of the beach. The staff are very nice and helped me a lot.
the shower room is a little bit simple but still useful.
people are friendly once i don't know how to get to some places, they will always detect me in detail it just looks like a home, a big family the skysea room is fantastic!
everything is fine
Dianna at the front desk is incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is right by the beach, and very close to bus station with access to the city centre and to Rhossili
Shared bathrooms (though very clean) No wifi
The friendly and warm welcome. Very clean facilities and bedding. Having friendly chats with Di the lovely hostess with the mostest who even provided an upgrade to a bigger room without being asked.
That own bottle of wine cannot be drunk sitting outside the building to watch the Sea.
Eating breakfast outside in the early morning sun on the shore as the tide raced in. That there was no problem gaining access to our room even though we arrived only just before midnight.
Nothing seriously awry.
Bunk beds very low/awkward to get in and out of
The well equipped kitchen was fabulous. The sea views stunning.
Thought the room I was in was too small for 4 people. Although free parking was a bonus it was quite a trek with all your bags. I was staying for 4 nights in a very small room but due to the trek to the car it was not that convienent to leave items in My car that I might need.
Staff were just brilliant. They were really friendly and we were shown all round the Hostel and made to feel incredibly welcome. Staff were also full of local knowledge - esp useful was the recommendation to go to The Ship Inn for dinner (cheaper and nicer than the Smugglers, which we would have gone to otherwise), and they had all the tide times and directions for Rhossilli readily available. They had so many ideas for days out that we wished we had been there another night! Lots of Self Catering facilities - 3 cookers, cutlery, microwave, and they even had a small stock of foods, snacks and microwavable sauces behind the reception for if you really needed! Location is brilliant. Right on the edge of the tideline at the far end of the bay. You walk out and you are right on the beach. 5 mins walk from a general store, breakfast cafe, chip shop, and bus stop. Having breakfast downstairs with the view across the whole bay is brilliant, and you can get to so many incredible Gower places on foot or by car with ease. Despite it's seeming remoteness, it's also only 40 or so mins from Swansea, and 90 mins from Cardiff. Staying somewhere like that, for only £45 for a double bunk room is unbelievable. It may not be luxury, and you may have to share a bathroom (although we never had to wait), but it's worth putting yourself out for. The welcome will be warmer than most places that probably charge 3 times that price!
YHA car park could be a little better signposted (it's down a 'No Entry' lane, only close scrutiny of the sign reveals that YHA guests can park down there from 5pm - 10am). If you are very tall you may find the beds a little short. Take a small torch - It's very very VERY dark after the sun goes down, and even in the village there were no streetlights after about 10ish. Although the camp site through which you can access the YHA is quite well lit. I personally loved being able to hear only the sea and make out dim roads ahead of us, but my friend freaked the hell out :))) If they could get some wifi it would be nice, as there is very little mobile signal. However this is also part of the charm.
Location was good and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Very expensive! 105£ a night for an extremely tiny quadruple room with bunkbeds! We usually pay that much for a much bigger hotel room where breakfast is included, the towels are for free and you don't have to clean up the room in the morning by yourself. Very very disappointing. The walls and the door were extremely thin and you could hear people going to shared toilets all night long. Couldn't sleep at all. There was no table to put our things on (and no cupboard), so this tiny room was such a mess with everything on the floor. Very uncomfortable. Plus the carpeted floor looked really old and dirty.
Location to paths and it is right other beach. Very close to bus stop.
No internet and grocery stores far away.
Location, location, location! Very friendly and helpful managers.
All of the above were great
its been exceptionally hot and ventilation upstairs was an issue for us
Staff....walking the coast trail ans hanging out with others there...
location brilliant, quiet and secluded, self catering kitchen really well equipped, hygienic showers and toilets, great view from lounge, lovely staff and other guest were nice too. good value for money
bunk beds bit narrow and room very small but a small price to pay for all the positives.
All the facilities. We used the living room and kitchen as we wanted and also after the check out. Staff is very friendly and Dianne is very welcoming.
It is a bit difficult to find and not so easy for disabled people get there.
Location, friendliness of the reception, parking, the family room was great and linen was clean.
On the beach and costal paths. Friendly staff - especially Diane with any information we needed.
No Kayaks for hire
Clean, friendly staff, a spectacular view of the sea, nearby coastal path is absolutely amazing.
Really small rooms, but that's OK for the price.
This house doesn't look very shiny from outside, but you feel amazed when you step in. The sitting room has a amazingly beautiful view of the sea. You will love to sit there and read or write for a day. Everything inside is quite new and tidy. The twin room I stay has a high window, from which I can have a bit of the sea-view as well.
You have to make the bed yourself-- sure it's a youth hostel. I hit my head a few times on the bunk bed :( there's not much space for the lower part. Warning: It's a very nice place-- but here's no signal or wifi at all. You're totally isolated. Of course the lady in reception will kindly help you with route planning with the only computer there. But just be careful, it will be an unusual holiday! Warning 2: I arrived in the afternoon but was told that I can't check in until 5. Didn't receive an email about this. It's fine to check in later-- just be prepared!
The close proximity to the Wales Coastal Path and the beach. Superb views from the living quarters. Public transport links are convenient.
The village of Port Eynon was very quiet and as it was out of season all the shops were closed as was the fish and chips shop. Both pubs were open for food. Very limited supply of food was available to be bought at the hostel for self catering compared to other YHAs I have used.
