Helpful staff who waited for our late arrival
Handbasin in the room didn't drain away properly
On the very doorstep of Sherwood Forest. Very family oriented. Staff + food excellent.
Great value for money, easy parking, rural location, members kitchen
Lack of storage space in members kitchen. Terrible lack of sound proofing between walls, any conversation was easily heard.
Clean & tidy Convenient for Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest Good bike shed in secure location Decent bottled beers sold Ensuite bathroom in dorm.
Bunks too short and difficult to climb into top bunks (high-sided). Noisy doors slamming at night - quieter doors would help a lot. Bathroom and shower cubicle were very cramped.
Staff were very helpful, and both the food and accommodation were excellent value for money.
Calm & quite...
Location, great staff, very clean hostel with ensuite bathroom (not toilet).
The dining room was very loud, would be better to remove the TV. Also, no wifi...
Loved that it was situated by the craft centre and children's theme park
Our room was opposite the storage room and so at 10 pm the was banging of saucepans and loud noises coming from it. That meant keeping the windows shut so we were all red hot. Kept my 2 young children awake
Location was great. More info on noticeboards re local shops and other amenities would have been good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great having a bar and meals available. Would have been good if packed lunches advertised. Patios good but could be more family friendly if enclosed.
The hostel was incredibly hot all of the time. It was unbearable in the kitchen if someone had the oven on. Also made sleeping difficult. Shower only stayed on for 3 secs and button was very stiff making showering an unpleasant experience and difficult for children to use unaided. Beds and pillows hard.
Staff were lovely. It was handy having cooked meals available and the food was tasty.
No wifi No laundry
Price was nearly as much as a hotel
Helpful informative staff Quiet Comfortable bed
Paying extra for breakfast - on the continent most youth hostels include it in the nightly rate, which is comparable to UK YHA prices. Adding breakfast meant the hostel was no cheaper, maybe more expensive, than a room in a bed and breakfast.
Great location on the edge of the forest. Best night's sleep in ages. Delicious veggie meals. Friendly staff.
Location Clean & Tidy good Value
Noisy door slamming
Location and obliging staff. Bed was very comfortable.
Smell upstairs. Urine or worse. Difficult for a mature adult to make up a top bunk bed and climb in.
staff at reception welcoming. Very good evening meal especially the homemade soup and mainly fresh veg. cook(s) friendly. Good breakdfast.
I was woken up after closing time by a man banging on my window and shouting to be let in several times, said he had lost his key. He would not go away and I was quite frightened. Eventually I phoned reception but although someone answered the phone they did not respond. The man kept coming back shouting and hammering on my window then on other hosteler's windows then persistently ringing the bell. I nearly phoned the police! Eventually someone let him in but my sleep had been disturbed. Someone should look into this.
Comfortable before our visit to Sherwood Forest. Good base. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms are very cosy too. Good value.
Toilet is shared.
Clean, best location for the Robinhood festival
Quite expensive but we went during the Robinhood festival which is probably their peak period. No wifi
kept awake all night by a youth group going in and out of a room with a very squeaky door. Stayed here every year for 6 years - wont be returned. Did complain but not much done. We paid our £148 pounds too and got a terrible nights sleep. Also booking not recorded when we arrived
It was the first hostel I ever stayed at and it really exceeded my expectations. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, breakfast plenty and loved the fact the rooms are named after Robin Hood characters! It is a hostel so didn't expect luxury but it was clean and comfortable. Will definitely recommend and would stay again.
