Loved the building, clean dorms and kitchen and also the location for visiting the South Downs.
Clean Staff lovely Beautiful setting
Noisy road Extremely basic Toilet in granary down a flight of stairs through a locked kitchen door Not very well designed space if travelling with younger children as you would be too far away from them at night
Location and price. Helpful staff. Clean and modern facilities.
One person in the kitchen/ restaurant doing everything. Too many roles for one person to cope with consequently a slow service. Not her fault, she did an excellent job under difficult circumstances.
Beautiful remote countryside
Lovely location, right next to the train station. Clean, comfortable and green. Highly recommended!
Lovely location and convenient in terms of proximity to rail station and South Downs Way. Friendly staff. Facilities and cleanliness of a high standard.
Beautiful setting, helpful and friendly staff, Our little wooden igloo was warm and clean and perfect for our night away together.
Excellent cafe. Slept like a log - very comfortable. Showers clean and hot. Self catering facility excellent.Easy access to rail station. loved my stay!
clean, good facilities
longer wait that I anticipated, for my meal.
Relaxed family atmosphere. Great breakfast served up by friendly staff.
No food available on site but had a great meal at the Plough and Harrow in Litlington on YHA staff recommendation.
cleanliness friendly staff quiet lounge location
dorm was far too hot and impossible to get enough fresh air in to change that because the windows only open a small amount, due to security I would think. Do need air conditioning for the summer months. everuone found it difficult to get a good night's sleep due to this problem.
The staff fab, especially the catering staff, very friendly and accomodating. Good value for money, we then went for a walk along the track, simply stunning.
The room we were in, was above reception, so alot of noise from banging doors, would stay again, but in a different room.
Food, superb and amazing value. Wonderful showers and very clean throughout. Kept the character of the building while offering modern facilities.
Our 6 bedded room was very small and smelly (old trainers) only had a small ceiling window, which on a hot humid night was unbearable. However when we asked to change the staff were very helpful and understanding and swopped our room for one with 2 opening windows.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - particular thanks to Isabella. Watching the swallows feed in the evening was fabulous. Both dinner and breakfast at the Cafe were lovely too.
Maybe the camping loo could have been a bit closer to the pods for those night time trips......
Poor signage to hostel on Lewes to Newhaven road. Tried to call the emergency number to advise of difficulty to find site before lock out at 10pm. No response from number. Not good gir an emergency contact.
Comfortable in the main building.
Missing all the little things, I know the pods are supposed to be basic, but no hooks, nothing to hang anything from, the lamp was only just above floor level. Just unnecessarily basic.
Lovely, clean and simple accommodation - fabulous breakfast. Friendly staff.
Not very well sign-posted.
Stayed in one of the pods. Excellent base in the country for our trip to Brighton. Station only a short walk away and great for avoiding traffic in Brighton. Sat and watched the sun go down on pod patio. Very clean facilities as well. The staff were also very helpful.
All really good.a credit and asset to the yha
We stayed in the camping pods, a row of 4 wooden huts big enough for either 4 or 2 people. The pods were clean, comfortable and had an electric heater each. The porch areas were ideal for bbqs and relaxing in the sunshine. Facilities in the hostel which is actually a gorgeous converted barn and manor house were excellent. I would definately stay here again.
There was no drinking water tap near the pods. You had to go to the hostel kitchen to fill water bottles up.
Setting - beautiful countryside Location - next to railway station Plenty parking Lovely staff Spotless showers and loos Good value Great breakfast
Staff were polite, very helpful about the local area, cafe facilities were excellent especially the breakfast. Room was clean and suited our purpose We would happily use the accomodation and recommend it to others
Nice location, recently refurbished.
The room is clean and because it is relatively new, the bed is comfortable. The toilets and showers are kept very clean. Enjoyed using them. Staff are friendly.
A major issue that I really didn't appreciate is that there is no internet service at all. No WIFI, no any form of internet services. Because of the area, the reception of my mobile 3G service has been poor, therefore, I had no contact with the outside world for 3 days. I acknowledged that most people stay here are hikers and therefore, internet might not be their top priories. But I do think internet, in the year 2014, is a necessity for almost everyone. Similarly to all youth hostel nowadays, the room is very snug and I can foresee as the weather gets warmer, the room will get very hot.
