Great family room, fab breakfasts, great pool especially the little pool for younger children! Great family hotel and great location!
Thank you. Very friendly staff Facilities in spa and salon treatments . Breakfast and view!! Location.
Could do with decor update for the price on the weekend nights.
Grandstand room with garden was great ...service was good ...breakfast very nice with plenty of choice... lady on reception very helpful ...overall a lovely treat...room 927
car park very busy could do with a little fence between garden and car park for more privacy a lot of drunken guests from wedding just walking straight across to their cars
Staff nice Room size was good
To have to wait 40 mins for breakfast - not organised - not good - what do you guys do when racing is on?? Room very dated
Friendly staff Excellent breakfast
Evening meal quite poor £6 and hour for room Internet is a rip off
The hotel was well overdue a full overhaul, and for the price they charge, I was very dissapointed. Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated at breakfast Room was very small and nothing special, not even a mini bar.
Plus side very friendly staff.
Overall i wasnt overly pleased with the visit. Me and my partner are both early twenties and visited york for a birthday weekend. The room wasnt cheap but looked fairly aged and needed some TLC. The main issue however was the comfort of the beds (poor) and the party that was on in the function room that kept us awake until early hours. Not a scrouge in any sense but consideration for tired guests wouldnt go a miss.
Good breakfast, nice big bed and good leisure facilities
Not enough staff in breakfast room on the Monday. Parties/ wedding reception had very loud music until midnight both nights so forget an early night
The room was clean
Breakfast was chaos we went to get some toast and when we came back the table had been cleared !!!!!!!!!!!
The breakfast was excellent.
Our room was an executive room 199 for 1 night. Room 202 Air conditioning very noisy and the room was above a noisy disco till late.
Could do with a refurb
food and facilities
not enough staff at breakfast
Service with a smile, large comfortable room everything was spot on
Comfortable Beds Free Parking
Tired Room A little dated / shabby to be honest. I suspect a contemporary upgrade is due. Poor shower little power.
Ideally situated for both the racecourse and York. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great mix of guests. Loved the pool area. Good choice of food for breakfast.
Shortage of staff at breakfast on first moring leading to delays in seating. Choice on evening menu (£25 3 course) limited could do with a few more choices. Ok if you like fish
Reception staff were lovely Swimming facilities were great Beauty salon on site amazing
Advertised as walking distance from city centre when in fact the middle of the centre is 35/40min walk, room wasnt amazing value for money had 'suite rooms' in other chains for less money. Had to pay extra too for brekfast. All in all cost £290 for 2 night stay, not overly impressive for £290. Brekfast staff had no idea was really hectic getting a table and on 2nd morning were told we werent booked for brekfast only room despite paying on arrival for 2 mornings brekfast.
view of the racecourse
shabby corridors and ceilings. In need of a make-over. Dated decor of room The room rate.
Comfy bed. Pool facilities.
Room did not match the description. Had to ask for drinks more than once before received at breakfast.
Overwhelming odour of dirty carpets - especially in stairwell lobbies Over crowded and poorly organised breakfast service
The hotel is well looked after, the staff were very nice and polite, who always smiled which is always nice to see.
staff were all friendly and very helpful. My car broke down and the staff were very helpful and said it was no problem to leave it in the car in the car park if needed. I did manage to get car going! We parked up in the free hotel car park and caught a bus just across the road, this made taking the car hassle free. Buses are very regular and cost £1.60 each way. This was brilliant as we were able to have a meal and an alcoholic drink with no worries. Got a bus back in the evening at 10.50pm on Micklegate. The bedroom was large and had two double beds in it, it was very clean and the pillows were sooo comfy. We were 2 females on an annual girly night away and we had a lovely chilled out time. We didn't use bar or restaurant facilities but they looked good! We stayed on a Sunday night as the price was a fraction of staying Friday or Saturday and York centre was quieter with no hassle getting a table at the popular eateries etc
The only comment to make on the down side was the small changing rooms in the spa but this did not spoil our experience.
Afternoon bar meal was lovely, spa pool etc great
The evening menu in restaurant was strange, and if we had been staying longer we would have eaten out.
The room was a family room and was a very good size. The beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the hot breakfast was very good.
There was a lack of soap and other toiletry goods that you would have expected in a hotel. This could have been better. On the Saturday the staff in the restaurant clearly struggled with the amount of people, and were very slow at re-stocking food that had run out.
I stayed in Room 300 Last two nights: - Terrible LED lighting in Lobby and Restaurant - Extremely low level and low quality of lighting - Sort of what you would expect to find in a 1 star (or less) hotel - Is this hotel really a Marriott? Shameful! Please buy some proper light bulbs - The food was okayish - Expensive for the what it was - There is an extra charge for wifi in your room - what a rip off!
The room and the facilities. Duty manager Ian Parker who listened properly to my complaint and gave me an unasked for discount on the cost of my stay.
There was a lot! 1) the fact I was woken not once but twice by revellers in the garden of the hotel, first at 1.15am (just forgivable) then at 4.15am (unforgivable) 2)The paper I ordered was not supplied and no suggestion of a replacement offered - until duty manager handed me one after I had complained about 3) downright rudeness of the waiter when I went to have breakfast. Too long and boring to go into but he is clearly not a people person and shouldn't be doing the job he is doing. I complained and the Duty manager came to see me and listened. I felt heard and was pleasantly surprised.
