Less than a mile from York’s historic centre, this friendly hotel, built in 1870, retains stained glass windows and a splendid oak staircase. There are good-value rooms and a restaurant and bar.
Score from 1346 reviews Good
Overlooking the River Ouse, the Park Inn by Radisson is located in the centre of York. It offers air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs, a riverside bar, a modern restaurant and on-site parking.
Score from 1698 reviews Very good
Located overlooking the city’s Roman walls, The Hampton by Hilton York is opposite York Railway Station and a 10-minute walk from the historic centre.
Score from 1797 reviews Fabulous
This 4-star hotel is in quiet gardens, next to York Rail Station and looking out over York Minster. It has stylish rooms and a sauna, steam room and heated indoor pool.
Score from 2098 reviews Good
Loved the garden, the dining room and the friendly staff. Easy bus ride into York which is such a beautiful place to visit. Another important fact is that there is plenty of offstreet parking.
Staff very helpful.
Old kettle in room with plug that did not fit the socket on the wall. Cobwebs hanging above my bed and behind wardrobes seen when laying in bed. Damaged walls and ceiling, very dirty edge to carpet. In need of redecoration and cleaning.
Not too much fuss, pleasant staff on the whole and clean. Had a good nights sleep.
I sat with my coat on for most of the time in the conference room as I was frozen. The lady on reception who first checked me in didn't lift her head out of her filing when she first said hello which did not give me the best first impression and the 'fishing' theme in my room was a bit too much.
Hotel was fairly nicely laid out. Restaurant service in the evening was good. Staff efficient and polite, meal of good standard. Free Wifi
Breakfast average but hot. Stayed in room 19, very noisy from floor above, lots of noise from kitchen opposite, music, dishes etc. Room somehow seemed cramped and oppressive and there were crawling things in the bathroom. I'm not going to guess what they were. Invoice was incorrect, comment from manager at reception 'we've had a few of those lately'. No TV in bar area to watch international football, had to go back to room, seems a shame as the bar lost business as i wasn't the only one. Others left the hotel to find a bar with the match on. Wifi very patchy although free
The staff were amazing, the food was excellent, the rooms were top quality and the bed was so comfortable
good breakfast friendly staff quiet bar car parking
our upgrade to 'luxury apartment' sounded good. Lounge area not very comfortable, very poor shower. Leak in bathroom needed repair. Had to spend evening in bar - one free drink seemed a bit stingy when we wanted to be in our room!
We like the quirkiness of many Best Western hotels and this was no different. It is refreshing not to stay in bland 'corporate' accommodation for a change. Thank you for an excellent stay. Breakfast was also very good and good value for money as we booked it on arrival.
The room was a little too warm when we arrived, however turning down the radiators and opening a window solved the problem.
The staff were helpfull and the breakfast was very good the room was comfortable
The walls were thin and the people in the next room were shouting and laughing and kept me awake half the night. The guiness was awfull.
The size and comfort of the room when I finally got to it. The parking. The location.
The location of the room - 2 flights of stairs; the second was difficult to climb. I have osteoarthritis & found it difficult. Wifi - it was non-existent in my room.
I booked this hotel for a break. If i was told when i booked that on both nights there be a wedding on and our room was right over the disco we wouldnt not of booked it. £249 for 2 nights is not cheap especially when you have to travel 3 hours back home to get a decent sleep.
The hotel had character. Staff were pleasant. Good bus service into the city.
The restaurant service was inconsistent particularly the breakfast arrangements which were poor when serving the food (long waits- toast given one day then not the next etc.) The floorboards creaked from the room above ( albeit it is an old property). Difficult to park.
The character of the hotel, staff helpful
The first room we were allocated the bedroom window was not capable of being opened. The second room had patio doors, which once opened could not be locked again due to warped door frame. The bedrooms have nice four poster beds, but the trouble is that they over-power the small rooms, which are just not big enough to accommodate them. Two hotels in two weeks show that Best western need to maintain their properties to a higher standard!
Everything except no wifi in room
Staff very friendly and helpful and provide you with what you need
Good food, friendly staff
mix up on breakfast times at weekend
Cosy room, excellent food, good location
I liked the breakfasts. The food was of a high quality and the portions were good.
There always seemed to be a bit of chaos at the breakfast time. There seemed to be problems getting tables ready for guests. This was despite trying to get there early and outwith busiest times.
Breakfast was excellent staff were very friendly fantastic location
We have used this hotel before as a one night stop over for returning our daughter back to university its close by and the hotel is clean and the food is good, rooms are reasonable.
breakfast was good, with plenty to choose from, even being vegetarian. If you like a walk then the 35 minute walk along the riverside into town is pleasant. The staff were very attentive and polite. There is also a good bus service into town and back during the day.
The room was a little dark, being an old building with small windows. It could also be a little stuffy on warm evenings. The quilts were a little heavy. The general cleanliness of the room could have been better. The carpet was not well hoovered. The TV had been wiped and was left very streaky. The shower was a little old. The dinner menu was a bit limited for vegetarians.
lovely hotel in a good location and plenty of buses into Town. Breakfast good quality
Whilst it wasn't important on a leisure trip the advertised 'Super fast' broadband was rubbish, so would have been less impressed if a business trip
The hotel is in a location just outside of the centre but easily accessible by bus! The room was very cosy with a nice four poster bed! No complaints what so ever.
Room spacious, warm clean and quiet even with wedding on site. Great breakfast taking to order when ready . Parking on site good location
Bed very comfortable. Easy access on park and ride bus to city centre.
Early morning noise from kitchen extractor fan. Breakfast charge not clear when booking in; £7 p head was mentioned but breakfast menu said £14.95.
Delightful welcome on an evening arrival. Lovely four poster bed very comfortable. Excellent bathroom with a lovely hot bath. Super evening meal with cheerful staff.
No help at breakfast left standing. Dirty table, poor help, table not laid. My husband had a hair! In his egg! And the waitress was rude and dismissive. Great shame as the food was excellent. This spoilt it.
