The staff were most welcoming. The room was cosy and we had an undisturbed sleep. The breakfast was great and we weren't rushed at all.
needed more choice for the dinner menu.
Loved the location the room was very nice and clean
Wifi connection was a bit hit and miss
Everything both my wife and myself were very impressed with the room and the service
Nothing staff very helpful at all times hotel excellant
staff very helpful.breakfast very good
bed small for a deluxe room but very good shower
Cleanliness, helpful staff, good shower, comfy bed, lots of space for a 3 star
Very poor Wi-Fi signal, very expensive (it was York races weekend)
Nice breakfast with a wide choice. All the plates etc were clean & the breakfast was on nice hot plates.
The tables were a bit on the small side & the dirty plates were not always cleared between courses. A white table cloth would of lifted the whole breakfast experience.
Good location very close to shops staff very nice very clean and well set out
Bed on the soft side so both of us had sore backs in the morning pillows very thin with no support not very nice During our stay we had a fire alarm go off the staff seemed to run around but no explanation was given to the guests as to what was going on some ppl came out of their rooms In nightwear and guests came to reception from the pool with towels wrapped around them the alarm was turned off but as before nothing said I felt this was very poor
proximity to racecourse
constant stream of wedding party guests and those planning weddings. The focus of the hotel was clearly this group of customers whose needs dominated the hotel
The apartment was clean, quiet and well situated for travel into York. The area was also good for pubs and meals away from the main hotel building. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would certainly visit the hotel again.
Some small details let the hotel down - poor check-in, poor wi-fi, poor tv signal, lighting in downstairs of apartment too bright - a lamp or dimmer would improve matters.
Staff and restaurant
Bathroom needs modernisation
The less than helpful reception on arrival
Had a fab time her would highly recommend and will be booking again
Comfort Location friendliness of staff
Wifi does not work in some rooms Limited food menu

nothing to complain about
I Liked my room, bed very comfortable and the room was clean
Dined inwith a colleague we both chose the same dish from the specials board. The fish was not properly cooked. I complained and the dish was removed from my bill.
The staff were very friendly & efficient the room was ideal and the food was excellent
lovely building, convenient car park, historic situation, good breakfast, friendly reception
noisy wedding reception late. noisy barrel moving too early. waiters not paying attention to empty plates at breakfast
Good location, handy for the bus into York. Excellent staff. Room comfortable Nice garden and grounds Plenty of Parking
Room got rather hot being over the Kitchens
Comfortable, well equipped and quiet apartment with good facilities. Pleasant, mainly riverside walk ( a 30 minute easy stroll) into historic York Centre.
nice friendly staff . good for public transport,
bit further from city centre than expected. noise from wedding parties caused disturbance to sleep no lift when difficulty with stairs
The staff were pleasant and smart. The food was very good. The location was very convenient for travel into the city. The walk alongside the river was very pleasurable.
The courtyard had a very minor litter problem
A real hotel in a wonderful location. Real people. Real food. Real rooms with individual decor. Even a real ale from Nick Stafford! and of course real Yorkshire hospitality.
Food was excellent. Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel lovely and relaxing. Beds large and comfortable. Court yards beautiful. Nothing was any trouble to staff. Miss Irene the owner, there nearly every day, so any issues could be dealt by her immediately. Bus stop directly outside hotel, so could leave car and ride on bus to centre of York within 10 minutes, and cost between £1.50-£1.80 depending which bus service you used or £2.00 return (Adult). Fan available in rooms for when it's warm. Curfew at midnight for weddings taking place. Peaceful relaxing sleep. Breakfast was very filling and an array of choices. Lunch menu and afternoon teas were excellent, and gave good choices, same with evening meal. Had a computer station set up for residents use, if needed.
No fridge in rooms, but wasn't a problem as I emailed before arrival to ask, and took my own portable one for husbands medication to be stored. Car park, although looks a fair size, it gets very tight when in full use and especially when weddings are on at weekends, noticed a few cars had been bumped and not reported to owners, but that's not hotels fault. Didn't mind the weddings taking place at hotel, but felt they over stretched themselves when holding 2 weddings in one day, and the residents were having to take a back seat, as people having the weddings seemed to think they had full run of hotel. Wifi was very poor in some areas of the hotel or couldn't get it at all in some rooms, due to thick walls, but was available at all times in the residents lounge.
Lovely sitting out in the courtyard for a drink on a summer evening. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Bit of a trek up many stairs to the room, though staff did offer to help with luggage.
