Plenty of parking, friendly staff and quaint. Very nice atmosphere.
The shower had some black mould in it and also the beds had rubber sheet underneath which made it a very hot night. I understand about protecting the mattress but there are cotton alternatives.
Food was good, great pint. very friendly staff
Clean well prepared room.
Room 20 (I cannot speak for others) The toilet seat was broken. The side window overlooks a noisey garage/car repair centre.
Staff all very friendly & helpful. Room clean & comfortable. Ideally situated for the train station. Had a good night's sleep. Ticked all the boxes for an overnight stay.
No soya milk for breakfast, which had been requested. Hot water from urn at breakfast not very hot- I cranked up the stat myself. Found it a pain having to keep logging back in for wi-fi so didn't bother in the end.
Location loads of options for eating and drinking.
beer was off, bar man not happy went down the road to another pub
Parking information incorrect resulting in fine. Restaurant very dirty. Table tops so sticky my shirt sleeves stuck to the table. tried to clean with serviette and it disintegrated and ended stuck to the table as well
Staff - friendly and helpful Location - needed to be near family Free wifi Comfy beds, bedroom lovely and clean.
Parking - tricky due to 2hr limits Squeaky doors in the corridor of the room and these were very noisy in the evenings/mornings Limited breakfast hours Room 10 - tiny shower room & dated decor needs a refresh.
The ladies toilets in the bar area - very poor
The room was comfortable, great food
The bathroom was very small. Wifi kept end dropping out.
Have stayed here many times, it's slap bang in the middle of the town and very convenient for everything. Rooms are clean and very comfortable and for the price superb, I've had a lot worse at three times the cost. Staff are great.
Really nice hotel lovely staff in a picturesque location.
Rooms are a tad dated but it didnt matter as i was only staying one night.
We had stayed one night at the start of our few days away and we came back for our last night before making the journey home. The hotel didn't have our reservation from booking.com! They found us a room but the toilet was leaking badly. The plumbers who were in the bar were unable to fix it and the suggestion they get the part from b and Q-(Stevenage- open until 21.00) was met with a very confused look and we were told the required part was an odd size-we know this wasn't the case! So we needed another room. The hotel staff were going to rearrange the beds in the only remaining room but then decided we could have the annex which was very nice and clean but no tv or Wi-Fi in the bedroom. What an upsetting end to our few days away! The hotel staff did try to smooth things over-free drink at the bar. My ratings in Section 2 are for the annex.
Hotel was picked for its location.
Room very hot even with window open. Self-service drinks for breakfast.
Good choice of breakfast
Brilliant comfortable bed with a quiet nights sleep. Great location and lovely cooked breakfast.
Room looked a little tired
The manager you had on while we stayed there, was excellent. Also your chef, was very good, great food. All staff were very polite and attentive. The girl needs to pull her weight.
The toilet, broken away at the floor and shower curtain, instead of screen
Fair sized room Very comfortable bed Great tv, limited channels Quiet Neutral decor
Very dirty fan Dirty carpet A little tired looking No extras, e.g. Soap, biscuits,
facilities and carvery meal which was ecxellent value and very tasty. I don't normally rate carveries but this was a nine out of ten.
Room too hot but it was exceptional weather. couldn't sleep for heat. Cooling fan just blew hotair around
Location was good and parking ok when we arrived as it was after 1 pm on the weekend.
Small room, not much air flow. extractor fan in windowless bathroom did not work made using the shower uncomfortable. They did supply a fan but even with it positioned by the window, there was no cool air to suck in as our room looked out onto a flat bitumen roof that generated heat. Breakfast was a joke, not many guests but staff did not seem to have a clue have to best organise themselves. Juices worst I have ever had the misfortune to taste, toast took for ever in an ordinary machine, had to make own tea and coffee (water from an urn that ran out before breakfast had finished). No real consideration taken that weather was hot so butters needed to be chilled to stop them being near liquid when trying to spread. My wife had the full English, all was ok except for cheap sausages. We will not be returning as have had much better for similar cost.
Very under staffed I had to search for bar staff quite often so it felt like a real effort.
Very good value
Dated but for money no problem
location, good clean room, staff were very pleasant and helpful. food we enjoyed,in fact a very pleasant stay in a delightful town.......hopefull to come again
cooked breakfast a little late for us...
Most was good as indicated
Shower facilitv in the accommodation we used was pretty poor. Breakfast experience not good.
Location. General facilities.
Ensuite bathroom very, very small.
I had a nice clean, quiet room and good sized bathroom. The hotel was nicely presented and the carvery I had on the Sunday evening was excellent. The location in the Town Centre High Street was ideal, without being prone to noise.
Breakfast was somewhat relatively disappointing... the cereal bowls were not very clean and you had to make your own tea, with a teabag in the teacup jobby. What is wrong with the good old traditional teapot ?
