The hotel was built and is operated by local Grenadians who are very attentive to their guests, who are quickly picked up from the airport and brought to the hotel, which is only two minutes away. Surprisingly, there is no airplane noise at the hotel. Buses regularly go by the hotel, so Georgetown is just a couple ec dollars away, as is the Spiceland Mall. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant has excellent food. The suites are well supplied with kitchen untensils and a stove, and a refrigerator. The rooms apparently are not serviced every day, which is not a problem if you plan for this. In fact, if you need anything, like fresh towels, they are provided. The bathroom could use a bit more lighting. There really is nothing not to like.

Very close to airport and close to great restaurant near the beach. Think it was called the Boat House. Charge for hot meal upgrade was $10 USD. Not very good for what you got.

The lady was a wonderful host. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Perfect to catch a plane early in the morning. Breakfast and drop off at the airport were supposed to be included in the room rate whereas there were not.

The owners, Debbie and Francis Bishop, were wonderful hosts. They showed me many kindnesses in my 4 day stay, including graciously accommodating a change in my plans to another part of the island. They provided very helpful information and were always there for any need I had. I can not say enough about them. After a 34-hour airport/flight from California, the location of La Heliconia was a blessing to me. I was picked up late at night by Francis and was able to sleep uninterrupted the next day. La Heliconia is located along the Maurice Bishop Highway, convenient by inexpensive local buses to shopping, Grand Anse Beach, and St. George's. Perhaps my favorite personal aspect of the hotel's location is its close proximity to one of my favorite beaches on Grenada, Dr. Grooms Beach, a mere ten minute walk from my room. As a solo world traveler, I found my room met my needs, particularly considering the functioning kitchen. Given its hosts, location and many amenities, I believe the La Heliconia represents good value. For visitors traveling to and from the island and in need of a spot close to the airportI highly recommend it.

Convenient location for the airport Smokers' smoke blowing from the veranda/ patio area through my open windows - I can't blame the hotel for this as I could have closed the windows!

The sole staff member who attended to me, was friendly, courteous and very helpful. The owners were always on hand for a friendly chat and offered suggestions for a delightful stay on the island. The rooms were quite spacious, with amenities for an enjoyable stay, especially for one travelling on a tight-budget. Close proximity to the airport. Felt a bit insecure since the locks on the door did not work properly. Was not picked up at the airport as promised, and was charged for drop off. The apartment was very clean, spacious, and the ac was a welcome delight on hot days/nights, but there was no phone provided. What if one should get sick in the night? Since I did not have international roaming charge on my blackberry, felt the urgent need to go purchase a phone. That taught me a lesson though...... Heliconia may have offered value for money, but if you are a beach lover, or one who prefers city life, stay in the Grand Anse area. Regular travel from Heliconia to Grand Anse robs you of any savings you would have made anyway. All in all, Heliconia wasn't exactly a bad choice, and I would probably stay there again. Overall I would rate this place a 6.5 out of 10.

Nähe zum Flughafen, geräumige Zimmer, freundliche, hilfsbereite Besitzerin. Sehr nüchterne Räume, dürftiges Frühstück. Von 17 Uhr bis 9 Uhr kostet der Flughafentransfer 10 US$. (Zu Fuss sind es 10 Minuten.)

The friendliness of the owners (family not staff) who were very accommodating and offered expert advice about the country and places of interest. The excellent meals that were prepared based on one's dietary needs without any complaints. The willingness of the owners to please guest and being able to rest and relax without being disturbed by noisy guest or traffic despite the hotel being close to the roadway. For all of the above the rates were affordable. There was nothing about which one could have complained
