Hotel Angmagssalik  

The hotel is situated in a superb position overlooking Tasiilaq town and Kong Oscar fjord with views to the splendid mountains beyond. Despite most residences of Tasiilaq being dotted around hillside, the hotel is situated both conveniently for the town and as a base for hiking into the interior of the island. There is an excellent transport service for those challenged by the uphill walk to the hotel and from/to the heliport. The meals are basic but well cooked and presented and the chef managed well with the limited supply of fresh produce, as determined by this remote location, to provide food that could be enjoyed by the majority. A good base for a short stay if you don't want to self cater.

We chose the budget accommodation which is housed in a cabin at the rear of the hotel - this was all fine and as expected in terms of standards and facilities - our only negative comment was the constant comings and goings with some young locals all through the evening and until 3 am, banging the doors and using the communal shower. It was not conducive to a night's rest, let alone sleep. We suspect that the annex was used/visited by more people than were actually booked into the accommodation! It would be helpful if this could be checked on occationally by hotel staff and perhaps a multi lingual notice put up at the annex door about reducing noise after 10 pm. Some oil on the outside door hinges would be good too!!

The hotel staff was friendly to assist guests. The place is quite small but neat and tidy. Nice romantic and relax view over watching the whole village of Tasiilaq. Perfect place to get away from the buzz of city lifestyle.

Etter kryssing av Grønlandsisen, er det lett å like hotellet som ble vårt første møte med komfort som dusj og seng.. Hotellet svarte absolutt til forventningene om dette og vel så det. Smakfullt og fint i vakker natur.

Litt kluss i tilknytning til betaling, men det ser ut til å løse seg fint. Kanskje litt mer velvillighet til å motta/hente pakkepost fra vestkysten også for små ekspedisjoner - vi spurte om det fordi vi hadde dårlig tid til å rekke postkontoret for videre avreise. De ville ikke det, men vi skjønte senere at andre hadde fått til en slik avtale. Siden dette er et hotell som huser "kryssere", ville det være et pluss om de kunne bidra med dette (gjerne mot betaling)

Maden

Fjernsynet var gammelt og dårligt placeret på værelset...

Fantastisk beliggende hotel med lækre værelser (bedst i den nye fløj) og sødt venligt vidende personale.

Beliggenhed og personale venlighed

Det er den første hotel i mit liv (jeg har besøgt mange runde i verden) hvor jeg har manglet toiletpapir både på mit toiletværelse og i de fælles toiletter.... De luxus værelser ser meget pænt ud, men i de to andre værelsesklasser, svarer prisen ikke til faciliteter. Meget lidt kunne gøre det meget bedre allerede: vedligholdelse, lidt maling på væg og en kedel i de billigste værelser.

Udsigten - og maden er OK.

Min bruser var defekt, Internettet var ringe, Maden var god men for dyr.

Geografien taget i betragtning er det er godt hotel, som kan bruges af "hvem som helst".

Personalet er ikke ret synligt, og især en enkelt virkede direkte uvenlig. Ejeren? Systemet omkring frokost og aftensmaden er for ufleksibelt (forudbestilling som krav)

Panorama-værelset havde en helt fantastisk udsigt over byen.

Maden var for "tung" - for meget suppe og steg. Maden blev dog opvejet af en meget behagelig betjening i restauranten.

We were pleasantly surprised at the comforts of a hotel in such a remote location. Staff friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Quality of the food was good, especially considering the isolation of the community. Magnificent views of the fiord and mountains from one side of the hotel. We did not have a room facing that way, which was not a problem for us because we were on the go all the time. If you are going to spend any time in your room, ask for one overlooking the fiord. Some interesting walks (some climbing) up hills to get even better views of the town and views of the sea in the other direction. Possible to see icebergs from at least one of these hills.

It is important to remember just how remote the location is. Considering that, we have nothing negative to say about this hotel.
