The appartments are located close to the city center of ilulissat, and the kitchenette has everything you need for cooking an easy meal
Our expectations were met, there is nothing to complain about. One window though didnt really close well.
Location very convenient close to centre, better than all other in town hotels
Quiet area only few minutes walk from the main street. Set up with adequate cooking facilities. Their airport pick up service was courteous and on time, and cheaper than a local taxi.
Even though the hotel information says internet available, it is only available at hotel icefiord, a good 20 minute walk away and then quite expensive (60 Danish kroner for 60 min). Not something you would want to do in winter.
Central location. Good beds. Plenty hot water. Had most necessary kitchen facilities. Good value for money.
The kitchen part could have offered a bit more of the bacis necessities. There were salt, pepper, sugar, tea bags and detergent and soap. For the short stays I would also like a little frying oil and coffee in the apartment, so you don´t have to go out buying this (in too large amounts).
These are apartments, so you won't see any staff. At all! Good location, clean, quiet, quaint. You have to check in at hotel icefiord, but they will set up airport shuttle for you.
Such good little apartments with everything you need for the week. Really close to all the main shops and attractions. This place worked out so cheap we were able to spend more on treating ourselves. Constant hot water. Lovely and warm room. Only draw back is that it's on the small side and cooking can make the smell of food linger but just open the window or door. We seriously cannot recommend this place any higher. Transport to the apartment and hotel was really well organised! And in plenty of time to catch the flight. Best tip came from A local on our flight. Board the bus at the airport via double doors in order to get a window seat + sit on the left hand side of the plane to see the icebergs when landing. Good tip :-)
Nothing it's perfect and we are very fussy about cleanliness and it was spotless
I thought the Icefjord apartments rocked. In the perfect spot to walk into town. The staff were relaxed and helpful. The kitchen was great to cook my own meals on. Loved it.
The location of the apartment is right in Ilulissat and it is the cheapest accommodation in the area.
No internet access and the only way to contact the apartment staff is to walk 1.5km to the Icefjord Hotel.
Personal transport to airport. no luxury but absolutely priceworth.
A few extra pillows and blankets in the room would have been nice.
The comfort of the apartment
Smell of dryed fish local to the town
The location was good, the apartment was clean, and although it was expensive by European standards, the price was reasonable by Greenland standards. The kitchen facilities were useful.
The free airport transfer service is unreliable. I organised the transfers a few weeks before arriving and they were confirmed. The taxi was waiting for us at the airport. We were taken to the Icefjord hotel for check-in, and then taken to the apartment which was a few kilometers away from the hotel. When checking in, we were asked about our flight departure time and I gave them the information again. I got back to the taxi and realised we hadn't been told what time we would be picked up. So I went back inside and was told it would be 5.30am on our date of departure. The day before we left, we went back to the hotel to confirm again that the taxi would be picking us up the following morning. We were assured it would be. Well on the next morning, 5.30am came and went with no sign of the taxi. There was another family in the apartment next to us who were also waiting for the 5.30am pickup. By 6am we were getting very nervous given our flight was at 7am so someone went to the main road to look for someone to call a taxi for us (the apartments didn't have phones, none of our mobiles worked there, there weren't any other hotels nearby and nothing was open that early). Luckily the person who went to look for someone eventually happened to see a taxi driving past who came to the apartments to take us to the airport, and just in time! The family in the apartment next door said that the taxi hadn't been at the airport to pick them up when they arrived either and they ended up having to wait 90 minutes for someone to arrive after they called the hotel. To be fair, the taxis were private companies so it could well be the case that it was the taxi company that messed up rather than the hotel, but I thought I should put this here as a warning for other people. There's no reception or phones at the apartments so if you've got an early or late flight and the taxi doesn't arrive, you might struggle to get to the airport!
It is located in the city centre. It's only 1-2min walk to the heart of Ilulissat.
The staff didn't answer the questions I stated in email properly. I could only get a few-word-answer while I sent out 5 questions. They don't seem to be helpful. This made me feel quite insecure about the bus transfer to and from airport before my arrival. We stayed there for 6 nights during August. On the day we arrived, we asked the hotel reception to send a cleaning guy to renew our towels and clear the bins on every other day and they promised to do so. However, I had been waiting for 3 days and still no one came. I needed to email the hotel for the towels in a cafe which offer pay wifi since the hotel is 20 mins walk away from the apartment and there is no phone (no connection) to the outside world. It's common not having mobile phone network connection in Greenland and if you want the internet, you can only pay if in hotels or cafe. Isn't stupid that they don't even offer a pay wifi option in the apartment while they don't have a phone? What is worse is their staff! The reply of my 'towels request email' is shocking. The staff replied 'Apart from giving you fresh towels, your stay in the apartment is on your own, that's why staying in apartments are cheaper than hotel rooms'. Since having an unpleasant experience above, I had been worrying about the bus pick up to the airport on the last day. In order to secure my trip schedule, I had to email them again one day before my departure. Although they have an oven and stove, don't think that you can cook there. They are extremely dirty, it seems that the oven has not been cleaned since the day it was used. I saw a cup inside the cupboard with stains on it. It was a terrible experience that I have never faced before. I would rather spend more to stay in Hotel Artic or other hotels in Ilulissat for a more pleasant stay. No more Hotel Icefjord! and I think their staff need a bit more professional training!
