it's not the hotel, but the bus which is not that convenient. We have to wait for 20 to 30 minuits under the sun...
Owners wonderful Beautiful accommodations
Good location if public transport in use. Great pool and breakfest. Good support from personnel in any question.
some more TV channels could be desirable
The location was very convenient. It is great value for money compared to other hotels in Megalochori and it has a swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was not very healthy - mainly bread and cakes, no fresh ingredients. The double room was very small - ok for one week but I was there for several weeks - and didn't have enough storage space. There was no proper table to sit and write at. The kitchen facilities were disappointing - one hot plate and not many utensils (no knives even!). Cleaning did not seem to be very thorough.
The hotel is family run. They are very friendly and helpful. Free transfer from/to port and airport. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are very nice, there are sufficient and comfortable sundecks. Breakfast with good variety (greek youghurt, pastries, cheese, fruit, eggs, bread, …). Good wifi connection in the room, at the pool and in the breakfast room. Great location - halfway between Oia & Perissa, so you can see the whole island. The hotel is a few minutes walking distance to the caldera on one side, and another few minutes to the nearby village of Megalochori on the other side. Megalochori is a small but charming and traditional village of Santorini. There are a couple of good restaurants on walking distance. There is a bus stop right in front of Abelonas Village, and the buses can take you to all the beaches, towns archeological sites, and other attractions on the island. Or even better: rent a car, quad bike or scooter. It’s a small island – so everything is easy to do. The hotel owner put us in contact with a person that is renting quad cars and bikes. We also liked Pyrgos and the old town of Emborio very much!!
There was a lack of light in the room.Rooms are rather basic but anyway very good for its price.
Although location is distance from the hustle and bustle of Fira, the bus stop is close. Car or scooter makes the towns and area more accessible. With a car, there are several wineries in area that are fun to visit. Pretty facility with nice grounds and nice pool. Good breakfast buffet but it would have been nice to have some variety from morning to morning. Very helpful, friendly owner.
The bed wasn't very comfortable. The loud bathroom blower was on all the time the bathroom light was on. Lighting was very low.
Although you could see the main road from te pool area it did not detract from the overall relaxing experience. Abelonas Village was just perfect, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfast was great (as were the bar snacks) and as for Gianna and her family, well they really go above and beyond for their guests, nothing is too much trouble for them. They treat you more like family than guests, absolutely lovely people and a great place to stay. Can't wait to go back.
Having to come home.
This is a family-owned resort. They managed to provide a superb housekeeping service especially, when you are in need of utensils e.g. plates or kettle. A very warm reception though-out our 3 nights stay here. It has a good road accessibility to and fro Oia, Fira and Akrotiri by local buses.
We stayed at Abelonas for 3 nights. The family were lovely and very accommodating. They picked us up from the port without charge and then dropped us off. Wifi was excellent. Rooms were clean. Pool was big and inviting.
We didnt like the breakfast. It was an average Greek breakfast, nothing fancy and everything cold. There were boiled eggs, tastless cornflakes, breads and no toaster, apples and orangs uncut, some cheese pastries and natural yoghurt.
I likes everything, from the amazing owners/staff to the pool and the lovely room and great breakfast. Ianna is amazing and helps with everything.
It is a nice place, the owners are very friendly and will help you with renting a car of quad and also with making trips. The location is in the middle of the island so you can easily travel to the top and bottom.
The beds were very hard. Shower is small and I personally don't like shower curtains.
We had a warm and friendly greeting on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfasts were of a very high order and far better than we anticipated. The setting is very attractive with an excellent pool and views over the sea. The location is superb and we were ideally placed to tour the island. Megalochori is a delightful unspoilt village with excellent restaurants, one of which has a perfect view of the sunset. Nowhere will you find better value for money. Would we return? Most definitely! Abelonas Village far exceeded our expectations.
Large swimming pool. Kind and helpful reception. Flexibility and relax attitude.
The whole environment and the surroundings are excellent. The food is great. The swimming pool is fantastic as well. There are lots of cats. Overall, quite good.
The bed in a double room is a little bit small for two persons.
The owners was very very helpfully. The breakfast was homemade. Only a few meters to the Caldera.
The noise from the street was a bit loud.
Nice and quiet Very Clean Amazing, friendly staff, who are all family
The hotel had no faults from our end!!
- Great location - halfway between Oia & Perissa, so you can see the whole island (rent a car or quad bike) - Ianna & her family were extremely friendly & accomodating, including driving us to the airport at 4.30am! - Food & drink is available - The pool is a great place to chill out - Wifi is good & available all over Basically, a great place to stay & highly recommended!
The only negative was that the water from the sink/shower was salty for some reason.
pool, friendly staff, free transfers to the airport and port, good views of the sea, staff able to accommodate customers needs as we woke up late and they provided us with breakfast three hours after they closed the breakfast buffet.
Gina and her family very friendly, helpfull and accommodating. Nice pool, clean room and beautiful landscape.Good location , close to the port. They pick us up and as well they put us in contact with a person that is renting quad cars and bikes. I recommend to rent a bike as it makes it much easier to visit the whole island.I would come back for sure!
Shower very small and hot water not available at night time. Breakfast is home made but continental type not much option like fruits, veggetables or warm food. They should provide a kitchen so over the day you are able to warm up food or make a tea for example. They are easy to talk to but you don't want to disturb them for little things as the reception door is closed over the day.
We like the swimming pool! And it's very quiet there!
the Family atmosphere the extraordinary availability of Ianna (the Owner) the swimming pool the position, very good sea view very good value for money.
friendly, relaxed family run business. The layout of the complex was excellent.
Lack of response to emails sent to them prior to arrival
Gianna and her whole family were just great. And Nicos was brilliant. Pool was perfect and very clean. The little village of Megalochori which was a lovely 10 min walk was just Devine. Typical Greek atmosphere. Tavernas. Bell ringing. The villagers enjoying their own little sing song and the children playing in the square. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Towels and sheets changed daily. Buses run every 20 mins but can be very crowded, but get you there and only €1.60 to Fira each way and also run through the night
Nowhere to shower after vacated room. But toilets and sink are available.
Upon our arrival they picked us up at the airport. Once at the hotel the owner gave us all the useful tips for visiting Santorini and they gave us the service of hiring the car for us at a very good price for a new car. The hotel is very relaxing, well decorated. The staff (family) is very helpful and welcoming.
the breakfast was very basic and no air conditioning where it was served so it made it slightly uncomfortable.
The hotel was family run, and they managed to create a very friendly and homely atmosphere. They were extremely helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was a positive surprise (greek youghurt and pastries). A ew minutes walking distance to the caldera on one side, and another few minutes to the nearby village of Megalochori on the other side. And this is a must visit. In its own way the most charming village of Santorini - a very traditional and calm place.
The bed was pretty hard and uncomfortable. The room had only one tiny window, thus, there was a lack of light in the room.
