Hotel is lovely and hosts friendly. Breakfast was freshly made and fantastic.
Friendly staff, the room was comfortable and the outside court yard. I also liked the attention to detail with the whole hotel. It was not just painted in white or magnolia, the paint work and decor was well thought out and detailed.
No cornflakes :(
The owner is really kind, treated me like her own family. Room was very comfortable, got offered to stay in a family room despite only booking a single room. Breakfast was really generous, with freshly baked chocolate cake, warm cheese pie and bread with assorted jams, butter, cheese, ham and cheese also selection of coffee, tea and milk.
Not really much of a problem, but the wifi was not working inside the room. However it was not a problem since I can go outside and enjoy the beautiful courtyard.
Breakfast the old architect of the building history related to the people who lived there close to a famous church
Wifi dont work in the room at all :-(
The atmosphere was welcoming, warm, and relaxed and the manager fostered a really happy feeling of belonging among the guests, especially at breakfast. We will definitely keep up with some of these others. Food was good much of it home made. House has real character and style.
Irini , the owner of the hotel is a wonderful lady ...always helpful and dedicated to her guests....we were feeling like going to our relatives in Greece ...the location of the hotel is perfect if you do not have a car ...very close to the city center ...perfect for walking and having coffe in front of the sea !
It seems to stay in a family, the lady that runs the hotel is always kind and helpful. The location is in the center of Aegina town. Every morning you can have a wonderful greek breakfast! Recommended if you are not searching for a formal accomodation, but a home-sweet-home atmosphere
Bathroom without windows
This is a special place. As the owner says, it is put together with love. The house is a delight and the serendipity of objects in it are something else. Rena provides the sort of accommodation and food that says 'come in and become part of my family'. Whilst not as 'up market' as some, (and you do have to like bells ringing for mass at 7.00am) this is the quirky hotel that teaches you something about local culture and about how to live. Don't miss the experience!
The staff was incredible! The location is the best. Very beautiful building Great breakfast!! Very good value for money and a suggested experience! Representative Greek hospitality.
Old facilities and building. Needs fixing.
Rena the manager was hostess with the mostess always happy and greeting all guests as if they are family. The 17th century mansion is amazing.Whilst not "5star"it has charm and loads of history. The breakfasts were a delight, home made cakes, tarts and cheese pastries.yassas Rena xx
Exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful people. Good position in the town, and a charming building.
Bathrooms were a bit small.
Great, hospitable staff, Nice mansion with history, worth seeing rooms upstairs, Excellent location.
Drawbacks of an old building, street noise in the rooms close to street, noise from other rooms etc.
The house is very interesting, it is 200 years old, has been sympathetically modernised and so is comfortable, but has retained its period charm. The salon on the first floor is particularly beautiful. Our hostess is charming, welcoming and treats all guests as friends and many, in fact, remain so. Me included I hope.
Can't think of anything.
In this hotel we have filling like in our home. Best location, only few minutes to pork. Magic lady Rena is really magic
Very cozy, attractive interior of small historical hotel. Hostess vas very kind, friendly and joyful. Breakfast perfect, tasty homemade food and amazing service :)
No sound isolation, bathroom can be better.
Our hostess was charming and helpful. We celebrated her birthday with some cake and wine. Great breakfasts.
Rena welcomes you warmly in peaceful and charming place; Breakfast in the Patio with fresh Home made cake. It's like being at home.
The hostess was so warm, welcoming, and accommodating of dietary requests--we were actually able to have a wonderful vegan breakfast! The hotel is charming, just beautiful. Don't hesitate over this one!
Traditionally decorated and furnished, great attention to detail. Generous breakfasts with home baked pies and cakes. Lace trimmed towels and bed linen. Rena makes it more like staying in a real Greek home rather than in a hotel.
The bathroom could be improved by the addition of a shower curtain and modern shower head.
Wonderful centrally located historic building renovated to high standards, keeping its authenticity intact. Really comfortable, clean rooms and tasty breakfasts with home-made jams and cakes (and a lot more besides). Rena -the lovely lady who runs the place - makes everyone feel at home immediately. My ideal place to stay in Aegina.
The caretaker of the property Rena is so sweet and lovely and does her best to make sure all guests are happy and well cared for. The roof deck is lovely and the breakfast area in the main reception room is such a nice place to enjoy the morning, chatting with other guests. This is a great hotel for solo travelers on a fair budget looking for a friendly place in Aegina.
There seemed to be a fairly consistent issue with overbookings - so myself and other guests were being sent off to other incomparable and frankly awful nearby pensions. After telling the host that I wouldn't have stayed in that room if someone paid me - she managed to find me a place at the hotel for my second night. Its really a disservice to themselves, because they've put alot of effort into Archontiko to make it a charming and welcome place so sending unassuming travelers off to sub-par locations is not ok. If you book here and I would definitely recommend it - be sure to make arrangements in the hotel itself and not the ground floor room (which is cute but has no natural light) and not "another" hotel nearby.
Location - handy to the port, buses, restaurants. You are assured a great welcome by Irene. The homemade breakfasts are excellent and generous. Clean towels every day, and nice bed linen. This is a very old mansion kept in good order and it was lovely to be able to stay there.
Not a complaint really, just advice. Although the booking.com site states that credit cards are accepted, this is not the case. So be prepared with cash available. You do get a receipt!
We very much enjoyed our four night stay here. The building has great character and the hostess is charming (if a little eccentric). The facilities are good, with a very nice breakfast. The location is only a few minutes walk away from the port where many of the restaurants and bars are. It is nevertheless in a nice quiet area (except for occasional bell ringing from the church next door).
The wifi reception varies considerably depending on where you are in the building; I couldn't get it at all in my room, though my friend could in his, and so had to go sit in the courtyard if I wanted to use it.
We stayed in this lovely little hotel for 3 days but did not actually feel like a hotel but more like we were visiting our yaya. We have felt so welcomed by such a lovely lady. The hotel is quaint, not lavish but felt as if we were truly at home. We will definetly go back there again.
Rea, the magic lady with a smile and her breakfast
